Five of us had lunch today. The food was very good, the service was also. I would recommend this restaurant.
Toro Rojo Arrecheria was not even recommended to us, but half a dozen times, with great compliments that we could not ignore. Our first observation when we drove past was that they were very busy near the weekends so we drove through 's until we saw a night they were not so crowded so that we could eat there. There's a reason why they're so busy... Read on: This was a business dinner and we came an hour before the darkness. The outside was very clean and tidy. The grills for the meat are outside. We were hit at the door by everyone who worked there, and our server Ray sat us where we wanted to sit in the back where it was quiet. Ray was very friendly and professional, friendly and attentive. And we saw the other servers. There was an open door to the outside next to us, which offered cool, fresh air at the end of a hot day. We had a view of a large Ranch pasture far beyond the road and could watch the sunset from outside our seating area. Great location for this restaurant. We ordered the buffet. They brought many bowls of red, green and guacamole salsas, raw hand toned tomatoes, another kind of guacamole, a bowl of limes, Zilantro and chopped onions, and Jalapeno paprika. We received a bowl of carne tartara (spelling? raw meat with lime juice and not cooked with heat, with tomatoes, onions, Zilantro and Jalapeno pepper. The main meat is delivered to the table on a hot Hibachi plate, with a low flame underneath to keep your food warm on your personal Hibachi grill. There was an incredible selection of meat: Carne Asada, Chuleta Arrechera (drilled special cut beef steak, 3 types of chorizowurst, grilled whole onions, and grilled white banana pepper (Kilo Guero). And to my pleasure, there were also my all-time favorite thing grilled new cactus leaves or Nopalitos Asados, which is better than meat for me. There were more than enough to eat, at a price to shame similar restaurants in the USA and Mexico. Not many places let you eat all grilled meats and salads that you can for about $10 (US per person. There was a well-equipped salad bar: spaghetti with cream sauce, iceberg salad, purple leaf salad, purple onions, shredded carrots, cucumber slices, tomato slices, lime halves and orange slices. Everything was covered on a chilled cold rod car and all items were very fresh. I drank a freshly squeezed orange juice, a delicacies, and at the end of the meal I had my usual, a bubbles mineral water. My colleague had a coke. When I finally open the martial art school here in Dolores, this place will be my choice to award dinner after competitions or belt tests. The atmosphere is festive, lively, with a real live Mariachi band that goes from table to table and plays energetic or romantic music... I guess you could say it has a big modern flair with an antique stance. The servers and the owner are so nice and friendly, and I can't say enough good things about it! If you're in town, make it a point to eat here. But do it early because they close right after sunset. I will soon add my photos of the trip.
