Not that great. My wife had Cobb salad that wasn't very large. Clam chowder was excellent but overpriced. Our total bill with one drink for my wife came to over 100.00 dollars. Way to much for lunch!
Food was ok but few healthy options. Lots of fried: fish, shrimp, chicken, etc. and with fries on the side and we had to search the menu to see what else the kitchen might have that we could ask to substitute (rice). Salmon and a few other options were pretty pricy. White rolls, we're not warm, somewhat hard and overall flavorless. Glad to have seen this historic spot and lovely town, but don't think I'd go back.
The atmosphere at the historic restaurant is great, but the food and service are not. Each entree ordered was less than mediocre. The fish and chips tasted of rancid oil, and the short rib lacked any invention of a rich wine sauce. Dessert as well was tasted like it came the frozen-food aisle. The dining room is wonderful with its collection of marine prints, but the temperature was freezing. Shaking while eating is never fun. Servers were friendly but completely unskilled as fine waitstaff. We were informed of a dress code before our arrival, but it was not enforced if there was one: many diners wore shorts and t-shirts.
I love visiting the Griswold Inn. The staff is so accommodating and I enjoy eating in the tavern by the fireplace. So enjoyable and in one of my favorite towns in the United States Will always come back here to visit. Love the ambience and the history. You wont be disappointed
Griswold Inn is outstanding! The hotel is a wonderful place to stay. I highly recommend that to all. The tavern part is the best for food and drinks, but sadly the main restaurant was not the best, food was cold, wine was in a dirty glass, just not worth it.
