Delicious meal, and great service. The lamb ragout hummus and mushroom hummus was excellent.
Had high expectations for this place and it delivered completely! We had the fried chicken hummus and it was the best hummus I ever had. Together with the gum, fresh from the oven-pita it was a heavenly combination. Husband and I share the flat iron steak and potatoes and it was also very delicious. Cooked to a perfect middle finish. Service was friendly and efficient. We'll come back to NOLA next time.
Excellent medieval cuisine! Very unique and creative dishes. The fried chicken hummus was particularly good. Moussaka, served cold was delicious. Would very recommend Shaya!
If I could give 5 more stars I would. Brooke was our wonderful server. She was warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable. The food is yummy, fresh and amazing.
Amazing food and service. The fresh Pita was incredible and we didn’t get a single dish we didn’t love!
Simply put, one of the best Mediterranean and Middle Eastern meals I've ever had. Every dish we ordered as a family of four was exquisite in flavor. The baba ghanoush and both the mushroom and cauliflower hummus were exceptional, and the pita bread was outstanding. The atmosphere is cozy, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The service was very attentive.
This place is incredible! The food is amazing. Try everything but skip the halloumi cheese. The baba ganoush is smokey and delicious. The ice team is refreshing-i little herbaceous but refreshing. Also the hummus is different but delicious too. Everything is amazing.
I absolutely love this place, especially the pita bread! The waitress was very sweet, and I definitely plan to come back.
Healthy and amazing at the same time. We sat at the bar and the bartender and wait staff were excellent. Had various Israeli/ Middle East standards, hummus, tahini and Falafel. The fresh bread and oil was insanely good and will be back for the fried chicken hummus again. I’m docking one star because they tack on 3% for credit cards. This is annoying to no end. Yes it’s printed clearly at the bottom of the menu. But really they should update their name to Shaya( bring cash to avoid additional fees. Build the fees into your menu prices.
This restaurant was an utter disappointment! I wanted to introduce a friend to authentic Mediterranean food and decided to try Shaya based on how good it 's supposed to be. We walked in requesting a table for 2 and the restaurant was not full. We were asked if we had a reservation (which was not a requirement . The hostess seemed hesitant to seat us and asked if we could come back in about 15 minutes. We asked if he needed our name so we could reserve a table. He said no. We asked his name (which I don 't recall . So we ventured to a few of the shops across the street to waste time. (The shops were really nice. So after 15 minutes we walked back in and the hostess literally said 'I 'm sorry, we won 't be able to accommodate you today. ' Like, what? You mean for the whole day?? It 's only 1:30 in the afternoon. He didn 't offer a wait time, he didn 't encourage us to make reservation, he didn 't suggest we come another day. No need... I will never step foot in there again. Saba is just as delicious and far more accommodating to people of color! But we went to Olive on Carondolet and the food atmosphere was amazing. A true family restaurant that knows how to treat customers. Stay away from this place!
Shaya is just top a tier dining experience, world class food and drinks with excellent service. Love the Israeli inspired menu and all of the Salatims especially the heirloom tomatoes in whipped garlic!! The Ikra with whipped cream cheese and anchovy spread, shallots and dill is a close second of mine which is served with their fresh pita bread, which itself is amazing. The dining experience is elevated with their awesome service and good attention to detail. Also, they
I was pleasantly surprised that Shaya lived up to the hype. Five stars. The fried chicken hummus is a must. Wait and order after this is finished. It was a perfect balance of savory and sweet on their amazing bread. If you only come for drinks and an appetizer then order this and be happy. A table favorite. The lamb was good. Tender and perfectly cooked. The flavor was mild and side salad was enough for us to both share. Cinnamon babka was yummy, but I might try another
The best best restaurant ever! Everything we tried was fantastic! The red shrimp and salmon are amazing, also the taste of the cauliflower hummus and moussaka were indescribable and of course the cheesecake is delicious! so we decided to visit NOLA again just because of this restaurant. The service was also special.
Simple and cozy ambience! The food was very well presented and tasted great. The flavors were very authentic. They have a huge range of hummus options. Highlight is the fresh baked pita bread that is served hot. Special shout out to our waitress Alexis, she is very sweet and attentive. Overall a fantastic experience! Must visit place for anyone who is visiting New Orleans.
The hype behind this food is well-deserved. The fresh baked pita is fluffy and pillowy and probably the best I?ve ever had. The Fried. Chicken. Hummus- get it! It?s sweet, the chicken is crunchy and the humus creamy- so satisfying.
Loved everything about this place…food was excellent and service was outstanding!
Always outstanding! From beginning to end Shaya never disappoints. Service is great, ambiance is great, and you can get a little food or a lot of food depending on how hungry you are. I always end up leaving with a doggie box because it’s still so good the next day. Enjoy!
Amazing experience from start to finish! The food was varied and delicious, the service was impeccable, and the restaurant was lovely.
The food was delicious and the service was great as well. Would definitely eat again. Love the flavor profile. Even though it was a very hot Saturday afternoon, we sat outside in the back of the restaurant and it was just divine. We love the seating arrangement. The fact that there was some gentle airflow with the fans, the decor with the plants was just lovely.
Perfect setting and the menu was fabulous. Really enjoyed our meal
My meal here was so delicious! Everything was sooo tasteful and packed with spices, and tasted very fresh, a welcome branch from the usual New Orleans tariff. Our server was very knowledgeable and pointed to any vegan option in the menu (and there was a lot). Although prices are somewhat steep, everything is divided so if you order correctly, it is not so bad. The hummus with grilled eggplant and fresh pita was delicious. The Shakshouka without fried egg was also amazing. Be careful! The baba ganoush has acid cream! So sad! The place is clean and cute and it is located on the magazine street that is really fun to go around! Definitely worth a visit!
I recommend making a reservation — you can do it online through their website. Their fresh pita bread is delicious, and many of their mezze and small plates are vegan. They also offer vegetable crudités for dipping. Will definitely be back!
Many vegan options the server will quickly point to you! I recommend the moussaka diving bowl. The chocolate sorbet was also incredible.
The vegan options were not marked, but the server knew what they were all directly from the bat and could point them to me. The food was pretty good, but there was really only one option if you wanted an actual meal that was the Falafel. The hummus and the pita were both fantastic!
I have visited many tapas restaurants, but this one is by far the best. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and was able to clearly identify the vegan options for me. He wasn't sure about the beet dish, but he checked for me. I was dining with some non-vegans and he made sure to place the vegan dishes next to me rather than at the other end of the table. I tried the Baba Ganoush, Moussaka, cauliflower hummus, tahini hummus, beets, pickles, pita bread with olive oil zatar, and had a falafel sandwich all to myself. The "unlimited" homemade pita bread was absolutely amazing- soft and slightly crispy from the wood oven. The only downside was the fries, which could have been great if served hot, but ours were only lukewarm with a nice seasoning. The falafel was not the best I've ever had, but everything else was perfect. They also had a unique cocktail and soft drink menu (we tried the Tahitian and hibiscus iced teas, and a few cocktails in our group). We were too full to finish our meal and took leftovers home. There were no vegan dessert options listed. The service was excellent and the decor was beautiful. We sat inside, but the back courtyard was lovely. I would definitely return on my next trip to NOLA.
My brother and I went here on a road trip. I do suggest making a reservation. We did and it went well. The staff, food, and atmosphere are top-notch! This is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at! I still dream about the food we ate there. The lamb ragu hummus was divine. It was full of flavor, creamy, and we savored every single bite. The crispy halloumi was fantastic with fried cheese and marmalade with nuts... out of this world great! The sujuk pide was incredible and when you got a bite with tomato it sent my taste buds fluttering. I would go back to this restaurant in a heartbeat! And I highly recommend it to anyone! If you're in New Orleans you need to go here and experience this masterpiece of food for yourself. Parking is a bit challenging so leave plenty of time to park with your reservation. We parked a block and a half away on the street. My recommendation if you try this place is to get the plates/food to share so you can experience more items and try multiple things. Out of our entire road trip from Minnesota this was one of our favorite places to eat. Thank you for taking the time to read my recommendation. I came here with no expectations. Just wanted to try something different during Restaurant Week. My party, however, had high expectations since they heard good things about the food. Well, I can honestly say I was very impressed! The food was top level, as was the service. Both the Tahini Hummus and the Fried Chicken Hummus are worth coming here! Served with hot and fresh pitas. The taste of our Demi Fattoush salads was exquisite. I had the Lamb Shoulder. It was very tender and delicious. My wife had the Shakshuka, which had a crazy good sauce with whole tomatoes that burst in your mouth full of flavor. I loved my Chocolate Tahini Mousse! Glad we came here.
