Easter Sunday evening with my family and girlfriend all engaged it is a My Time event when the shackles are OFF! After a 2.30pm lunch I only need a light ramen dinner before watching a HK action thriller Extraordinary Mission at Sunnybank Plaza. Arriving outside Hakataya Ramen at 8pm there is not a free stool anywhere so I wander into the Plaza. Returning at 8.15pm seating is no problem and I order the Miso Spicy-Men for $13 and it it arrives within 3 minutes! Wow! The chef offers me pickles and free ramen and I thank him for it. The meal is good but I have been spoilt by the ramen shops in Sydney. I remind myself to review this Brisbane ramen shop without any comparison to my experiences in Sydney so here it is. The pork broth is good but slightly lacking in flavour and depth. The ramen I was served was a bit overdone and the pork slices were super-thin slivers of meat that I could barely taste. And I believe my last meal here 2 years ago was better. I rate my ramen meal 3.5/5.0 Speaking to the polite and obliging staff at 8.30pm they tell me business has been non-stop all day. It has been a long day for these guys and they still provide service with a smile. I believe they deserve an extra half point!

Pretty much my go to place if I ever start to crave ramen. Can not go wrong with pretty much any dish on the menu (unless you do not like spicy). All dishes have lots of flavour and plus offer an extra free serving to noodles if you ever feel more peckish.
Rather popular in Brisbane, perhaps my expectations were a bit high. The ramen was okay, decent broth, good noodles. For the price, you'd expect half an egg and better presentation. There's nothing wrong with this place, it's just not for me.
