In addition to the fish curry and fish vindaloo, Chef Durga also prepared a special spicy calamari vindaloo for us upon request. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect hidden gem. Their chai is also exceptional, the best we've had in Palolem and one of the top three we've tried during our two-month stay in India. The staff is friendly and they stay open late for those who have been enjoying a day at the beach.
We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we decided to add it to Trip Advisor. The food was delicious and there was a good variety of options available. The owner was accommodating and willing to make adjustments for special dietary needs. The owner was friendly and had a cool vibe. During our two-week stay, we ate at this restaurant every morning because the food was consistently good and reasonably priced. They serve the best chai in Palolem. We stayed just across the street at the Om Sai Guesthouse and every morning at 7:20, we would pick up a thermos of chai, order our breakfast, and enjoy our tea on the balcony as if we were having room service. The restaurant had a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere, with great music playing in the mornings. I recommend trying the sweet and sour balls, manchurian gobi, or the veg noodles. The prices were very reasonable, with food costing about 60 INR and chai only 10 INR per cup. The restaurant had four tables, each seating four people, and was open from 7:00 to 10:00 every day.
The chef serves excellently prepared Gobi. We also enjoyed the tasty Veg Hakka Noodles. The cozy restaurant is small but very welcoming and friendly. Customers can share their taste preferences and feedback with the staff.
Chef Durga makes amazing vindaloo. In fact, we had it two nights in a row. We had fish curry, fish vindaloo, and a special spicy calamari vindaloo made at our request...what a find. It's the perfect hole-in-the-wall! Plus, his chai is not only the best we had in Palolem, but in our top three of India, after two months here. You feel welcome as soon as you walk in. And they're open late, in case you've been drinking on the beach all day! ;)
We liked this place so much we had it added to Trip Advisor. 1. The food was good and varied. The owner will customize it (spiciness, veggie) as well.2. The owner is super nice and chill.3. We ate here EVERY morning for 2 weeks, because it was reliably good and rather cheap.4. He serves the best chai in Palolem. We stayed across the street at Om Sai Guesthouse for 2 weeks. Every morning at 7:20am, we would head over and get a thermos full of chair, order our breakfast, then go back upstairs and sip our tea. When our breakfast was ready, he would shout up/wave at us, and we would head down and grab it. We would take it upstairs to our balcony, pretending we had in-house room service. Totally can't be beat. A very convenient, tasty place! Love his morning music choices. Try his Sweet & Sour balls, Manchurian Gobi, or his Veg Noodle. ** Food is about 60 INR, Chai 10 INR per cup.** Has about 4 tables, booth style, seating 4-people per table. ** Open from 7:00AM to 10:00 PM.
