Vents d'Ouest is more a neighborhood place than the commonly found tourist restaurants of St. Malo's walled city. Service is efficient and charming without bein... Service is efficient and charming without being cloying, and even though it quickly filled things moved right along. Our server was arguably the nicest we had in...our two-plus weeks in France. A variety of interesting and tasty shellfish, particularly mussels, makes this a destination. A wide selection of ciders and Calvados are also available. Finally, the galettes (both savory and sweet) are simply terrific: after a previous pass through Normandy/Breton, I'd give up on galettes, but Vents d'Ouest immediately changed my outlook. Finally, value: this was our least expensive dinner in France, and one our three least-expensive meals even though we didn't scrimp on drinks, appetizers, mains, or desserts. If you have come as far as St. Malo, walk a few steps more to Vents d'Ouest.

My friends ordered a couple of different beers,...a “Lacorne” and a “Piraat,” and apparently loved them since they ordered a second round, and then asked the waitress to bring some tapas. We had anchovies in vinegar, assorted cold cuts, and French croquettes. I was content with blended fresh fruit made with red and blueberries. We returned the next day to try their excellent cappuccino, croissants, and the “Ensaimada, typical Andalusian pastries.
