"If you look at my previous review from you will see a high review of their fish and chips. Not so anymore. What makes a great Cod fish and chip is the following: The fish fully cooked inside as well as a crispy,...well-done batter. No brown blood-line meat (the lateral line of blood and muscle that runs the length of the fish). The best quality of fish processing, remove this line of brown meat as it is the fishy tasting part of fish. If it is found in deep-fried battered fish, you know the quality of processing is inferior. Fresh oil used in the deep-frying process. There should be no taste of oil upon deep-frying. Ways of telling if oil is used too long is to notice a foreign food-taste in the oil used to deep fry. Proper oil temperature for deep frying. To low and the fish absorbs more oil and subsequently feels and tastes greasy, too high and the oil burns and gives a definite oil taste to it. After recommending B&S's as the best in Abbotsford, I withdraw that referral completely. I can ignore one bad set of failed parameters but twice? No thank you. We asked for our fish to be crispy and well done. What we got was the batter was not even fully cooked, it was still soft with raw batter spots; the fish was near raw; the fish was dominated by a heavy foreign food taste (oil used too long); the fish was very greasy to both touch and pallet and lastly, the fish possessed much of its brown lateral blood line. Two times and we are out thus I will not recommend Bow and Stern's fish and chips to anyone, especially those with a discerning taste"
