Loved the carne asada and the queso not to mention the very reasonable bill. This may be my go to Mexican in the sandhills!
I have stayed away from this restaurant for two reasons. First, I generally prefer to eat at small mom and pop places rather than national or regional chains. Secondly, I was advised against eating at this restaurant by a number of my neighbors. I recently decided to try it anyway. I went at lunch on a Sunday and it wasn't very crowded. I was seated immediately and ordered the lunch Chori Pollo with a Pineapple Jarritos. The food came out within 10-15 minutes. The dish was actually very good. Chori Pollo is ground seasoned sausage over a thinly sliced chicken breast with cheese sauce, rice and beans. It wasn't drowning in cheese sauce, the chicken was tender and flavorful and the sausage not overly salty or seasoned. The restaurant's decor is filled with references to culture but also has a contempory flair (see the image of Frida Kahlo in the style of Andy Warhol). I also noticed a number of images by José Guadalupe Posada, the Mexican political illustrator and printmaker. Having formerly lived in Mexico, I can say that the food is generally Americanized. However, that isn't to say that it's not good. I enjoyed my meal.
The food is great, and always consistent. Flautas, chimichangas, and fajitas are always a hit. But more importantly, the guacamole is made at the table in a large molcajete and is phenomenal (and so chunky) and the cocktails are muy especial ? most recently we started with a mango margarita and a mojito, and ended up getting jalapeño mojitos for round 2. They have jalapeño margaritas and they let us mix it up to do mojitos instead. The flavor in my mouth as I type this review is like el sabor del Dios. Just wanted to share this with the world in hopes you come here and order literally anything. You will not be disappointed.
Service was really good, food was not as good as it has been in the past. My wife's onions could have been cooked more. My dinner was fine.
Great food and customer service. They were fast and food was sizzling as they put the fajitas on the table.
