My partner and I have just experienced a Balcobo wedding as the Brides on 08 June. From start to finish in the process of booking, organising, researching, Javier and his team were amazing. I am english and my partner is Spanish and we live in London so a lot of the details were done via email or through family living in the area. I will go through things bit by bit to give you an understanding of the facilities and service; Price a huge consideration to any wedding planning, the value for money here is exceptional. The ceremony (extra charge for one the beach), a free bar all day for everyone, plus canapés (more than can be eaten), a 7 course meal of repeated plates, snacks, sweets and pastries in the evening, and a DJ from start to end worked out at roughly €115 per head, which is prob more expensive than UK but you get SO MUCH MORE!!! And the food, drink and service is outstanding. Location a 20min journey out of La Coruña, this venue has everything; a stunning beach flanked by lush green hillsides, a large self contained restaurant which was able to comfortably cater for our 220 guests and ample parking too. Food/Drink wow wow wow. The food stole the show. Not only was there masses of it but it was all delicious. Our menu included: canapés, not the kind handed out 1 at a time like in the UK but a whole area full of 17 different types of hot and cold canapés that were being constantly replenished for 2 hours immediately after the ceremony. Guests were full before the meal. Our menu for the wedding dinner was langustines then clams then scallops, followed by sole, then a sorbet, with beef and lamb as the final savoury dishes before desert of mille feuille. Every dish was repeated so guests are offered as many servings of each as they want, some people has 12 langustines for example, not a problem at Balcobo. The area is famed for its seafood and it didn't disappoint, every guest from the UK was in awe of the food and the service to go with it was unbelievable. Alongside the food is the drink; between the end of the ceremony and end of the dinner it is free wine, beer, cava and sofr drinks, after the meal the bar opens to also include free spirits. Other included in the price was the beautifully set out ceremony and all the ancillary bits. Like the arch and flowers and decorations etc, as was inside.for table decorations, flowers, seating plans, the display of the wedding cake (which was the mille feuille desert), etc etc. We also had a military guard of honour and the guys needed to get changed after the ceremony, again Javier sorted a place. For their change of clothes to go and somewhere for them to freshen up, as well as safely storing the swords throughout the day until we departed. Service Javier and his team are experts at hosting these events and the service on the day was superb, it was slick, well executed and in keeping with the rest of the day. Nothing was too much trouble and the team worked extremely hard throughout the day. I forgot to mention the ceremony started at 4pm and we left the venue after the party at 6am, you can book as many hours as you want (you pay for extra hours after 2am I think), but if you're partying they will serve. We extended for an extra hour on the day and it was not a problem! Imagine that in the UK. No chance! We also had a few little extras, like a photo booth and buses for guests to the get from Coruña to the venue etc all of these things were booked through Javier and his contacts and were all very well priced. They even let us bring out own cheese. For the evening, we Brough 6 wheels of cheese and set it up as a wedding cake and that was no problem at all. Again, this wouldn't happen in the UK. We also had a rehearsal for the ceremony the day before and Javier was again the perfect host. I cannot explain how good a day it was, as the person who got married it should be a fantastic day but it was more than that. Friends and family have said it is the best wedding they have ever been to, it really was amazing and if you are thinking about a wedding abroad then this place is a hell of a choice. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Thankyou Balcobo.
