The cakes are not edible, with a strong plastic taste.
Omonia cafe is a famous Astoria spot, it?s been around since 1977! We stopped for coffee I had the tiny Greek coffee (espresso) my fiancé had the latte. Both were great, they offer all 3 coarse meals and have a bakery next door. I?ve had food here before too The outdoor seating has a tree branch shelter design and pretty lights. Cupcakes was dry, not fresh and the taste was bland and the cream on top was way too sweet and not freshly made. The cream puffs were ok not as tasty and big as the bakery 3 blocks away, Parisi Bakery, 30-17 Broadway. Parisi pastries melts in your mouth and they are not as expensive as Omonia Cafe. These last 3 cupcakes are going to the garbage as you see in the last pic I posted. Never will step foot in there and no wonder they have a sign that says No Refunds. That sign was
They do have a very large selection of cakes, but they're too sweet/dense for my European taste ; . They taste great, but just too sweet for me to enjoy as I need to drink half a cup of water after each bite. Their outdoor seating is very well decorated and maintained, inside it's a bit oldish but that's probably part of the charm. For an afternoon coffee, probably only take one slice of cake, and lot of water !
