We see the same people eating there day after day which has to tell you that it's a good place to eat. We have tried other places in the Orio and their food is good but you can't beat The Break for total relaxing . It's like home from home for us as my husband has a stressful work life and he can totally turn off here. Once we have eaten we sit with a coffee and a drink on the little tables at the entrance and just watch the world go by. Worth every cent! Our favourite place .
We visit the Break cafe often, sometimes just for coffee and zambucca and a fresh fruit tart or bowl of strawberries and ice cream. Sometimes we sit in for a meal and have never had any problems. The staff are friendly, they know us and always make us welcome, always found them helpful and pleasant. Food is good if you know what to order and if you don't speak Italian they will do their best to help.
We have visited this cafe/restaurant on 3 separate occasions, and have failed to eat here on 2 of those! This last occasion in late May of this year was beyond belief because of the shear incompetence of the staff. When we arrived I stood near the counter at the front and was invited to sit down in the dining area. A few minutes later a waiter came and we ordered drinks while looking at the menu. When he returned , and I began to order food, I was advised that the kitchen was closed between 5 7!!! Is it not possible that someone could have told me earlier? After all the waiter did see me looking at the menu, and the man at the counter directed me to the dining area! Serious problem here, and I think its a common problem throughout the dining facilities in the Orio Center
The location of the coffee is definitely its strong point: the local has the large courtyard of a short building, accessible from the porch via po. in this charming environment you can drink a drink and draw from the rich buffet that offers hot and cold dishes of pasta, bruschette, chips, but also, spaghetti and Chinese ravioli and desserts nothing bad tiramisù is really good. the price, for a drink, alcohol or not, plus the self-service buffet, is 10 euros.
We were killing time in the Oriocenter while waiting for our flight it was a pretty hot day, so we decided on getting some gelato. We skipped the gelato place, since the ice cream were melting in the sun, and went for the Break Café instead. Considering it's a café not an ice cream shop they had a decent selection (around 10 different flavours) and good taste. However, I think the prices were a bit steep.
