We have ordered chateaubriand. medium fried ordered, it has been fried, do not put pink. until then the person was asked about 10 minutes. because we were eating out the per person 62.- expensive food was not cut on table, nor presented - we got 1 teller each with 3 small medaillons, 5 bratkartoffelchen and a bit sweet. it was estimated per person approx. 120gr. meat. no second teller? much too little for this price. it was more like an appetizer. since we had starved and had taken it long enough we wanted to wait for a new chateaubriand after we had charged the fried meat, even if we had not waited for a new chateaubriand again (chamber for the good piece meat). because I didn't want to dessert, they only deleted 2 coffees from the bill to the conclusion. An apologies of staff, chef or wet would have been appropriate, as well as removing a menu. who wants to play in this league should also be able to deliver the essential in the kitchen at the gast. when serving, the estragon was also not noticed because it had rained too much in the cervical garden. why do you share this when you serve and not already at the order. the servierpersonal does not reflect the price class diees restaurant. it is generally lacking in crafts, friendliness and professionalism. a very disappointing overall experience.
It was fairly easy to get a reservation in their 'fine dining' restaurant on a Saturday evening. This restaurant is not comparable with fine dining in other countries but since they have fabric table cloths and napkins they are already a notch above lots of other restaurants in Switzerland. The interior is very traditional, fitting for the oldest restaurant in Switzerland. When ordering our pre dinner drinks we were told there was just Gordons and Schweppes, as their Gin and Tonic…Given there has been a global gin movement for the last few years this was a disappointment in a restaurant that pitches itself at this level. It took nearly 30 mins after we sat down to get drinks. Service is certainly not a strong point here. The staff are neither friendly or professional. They looked like everything they had to do was a chore. The menu is very traditional Swiss food. My husband ordered Zurich geschnetzeltes and I ordered beef stroganoff both were very good, but nothing so amazing we would go back. There was a good wine selection. All in all it was a pleasant evening. Maybe somewhere you would take grand parents for a birthday. Its not cheap and to be honest you can get the same food much better quality in less expensive local restaurants. Not somewhere I'd bother going back to.
I had dinner with family in the quieter part of the restaurant. The restaurant is decorated in a traditional style. The menu contains a variety of traditional Swiss dishes. The quality of the food was very good, but was at times a bit heavy. In contrast to other reviewers, I found that the portion sizes were large, and I could have done with smaller portions. This is an excellent location for a little more formal dinner with family or business friends. The cost was similar to that of other similar restaurants in Aargau.
The Kloster Sternen Restaurant, is always a nice place to visit. The restaurant is decorated in a traditional style
