A few weeks ago, I went for drinks at Penny Black with a friend who lives nearby, and I had a great time. The atmosphere was definitely old-school and traditional, which I really enjoyed.
We had a large party of 25 in the dining room. We were advised about the air conditioning, but it was completely ineffective, making it so hot that we had to open the windows. There is no temperature control available. The service was subpar, and the food was just average. We were not informed that a 20% tip was already included, which led many of us to tip again. Overall, the prices do not reflect the quality of the food and service. The main issue seems to be a lack of accountability, as the place is run by investors. Lastly, I recommend avoiding the water; it tastes so bad that it's likely unhealthy.
We had a large group of 25 in the dining room, and despite being told that the AC was on, it was unbearably hot, forcing us to open the windows. We weren't informed that a 20% gratuity had already been included, so many of us ended up tipping again. Overall, the prices are quite high considering the quality of the food and service. The main issue seems to be the lack of management, as the restaurant is owned by investors. Lastly, I would advise against drinking the water; it tastes so bad that it feels unhealthy.
I visited this restaurant for a holiday party, and we were seated in the back room. It was a very comfortable space for our group of nearly 25 people—cozy and charming! We enjoyed one...
