We had a curry and a Papaya salad here. it was both really spicy, maybe the most scientious dish we had in Southeast Asia. also the salat tasted a bit like fish, so maybe they use fish sauce for the dressing. it was our fault that we didn't ask before, so better ask. curry taste ok, but nothing special and we had much better eating for about 3.$ the salat was 2.$
Friends bar and grill was recently opened by the former chef of cuisine of the green carrot. I have tried the Tofu-Khmer-Curry, and it was excellent a deep, rich aroma with lots of fresh vegetables, made with cocos milk. I also had a fresh cocose that cannot be beaten! there are many other options that are vegan or can be veganized, such as sweet fried rice or sweetening, tom-yum, sweet and sour, stir fried ginger with tofu and cashew, and tomato pada. they also make fresh juice.
Friends Bar and Grill, opened by the former chef of the Green Carrot, offers a variety of delicious vegan and veganizable options. I recently tried the Tofu-Khmer-Curry and was blown away by its deep, rich aroma and abundance of fresh vegetables cooked in coconut milk. The fresh coconut I ordered was the perfect accompaniment. Other menu choices include vegan options like vegetable fried rice, vegetable noodles, tom-yum, sweet and sour dishes, stir-fried ginger with tofu and cashews, and tomato paste. Don't forget to try their refreshing fresh juices as well!
The food was decent, nothing extraordinary, but it was good. However, it was extremely spicy. I usually enjoy spicy food, but this was too much to handle. I would recommend informing the restaurant in advance if you cannot tolerate high levels of spiciness. We ordered the tofu curry and papaya salad.
