The food was delicious and the portions were huge. We had starters and mains and there was no way we had room left for afters. All in all a smashing evening.
I’ve had several meals here over the last couple of years and all have been good. I’ve been to a couple of parties too where our and peas was served, the cheese pie is lovely. Staff always friendly.
We loved the look of the place when we first pulled up but as we got closer the place looked a bit run down outside. Weeds everywhere, shrubs needed cutting back and plant pots full of weeds. Goes inside and the young lady wasn’t very friendly no chit chat asking how our drive was etc just do you want to book food. She took us back outside because the rooms are not inside the pub they are outside at the side of the pub.we let ourselves in which was a nitemare because the door wouldn’t open we had to figure out how to do it. First impression of the room was damp smell and very dull looking room. It has a small window in it with a dirty looking net curtain, dark wallpaper, dark carpet, dark pictures.you had to put the lights on but even then it was still dark. The cream furniture was ok the dressing table and no sockets at it so you had to dry and straighten your hair away from the table and sit on the bed next to a different mirror.the room and bathroom was clean but bits were dusty and there was cobwebs on the ceiling.bed was very comfortable.you can hear every little sound and people walking about upstairs but the worst part is you can hear the room next to you the tv and them talking. We were woken at half five and half seven on two different mornings with next door taking a shower, the noise was unreal you would have thought it was in your room. They need to look at soundproofing the rooms it ruined our sleep. The tv signal would constantly go and we asked three times about the WiFi only on the third time was it fixed, don’t think the young lady bothered to re boot it.the pub closes at 11 during the week and there is no information in the rooms to tell you about the owners or how to contact anyone incase anything happens once the pub is closed. There was no leaflets or anything to tell us about the area where to go for things to do or places to eat. We eat once at the pub food was ok but didn’t go back, burger was cheap meat and quite rubbery and onion rings were very greasy. Did have a drink in it one night but the place is full of locals watching football so you couldn’t even have a quiet drink or play snooker. Website says they do cocktails they don’t and the gin I got was not very good tasted flat. When leaving one morning we noticed that the towels are kept outside in cupboards that explains the damp smell coming from them.It also says on the site that it is 24 minutes drive to the lakes wrong more like an hour. We also called first and asked if there was a cafe near by for breakfast as they don’t serve it which is weird when they do lunch and dinner, we were told the shops etc was a five minute walk away wrong again you had to drive to get to the nearest town.i would recommend the hotel if you don’t mind noise from next room and being far away from everything and enjoy dark rooms
The room is lovely, everything you need, towels could be bigger though. The food is to die for, the salt and pepper chips and the onion rings are so moreish. Our meal was amazing, the portions are huge, we couldn't eat it all. I had the rump steak with pepper sauce and my husband had the chicken stack. The lovely Liam took care of us while we dined. Reasonably priced and brilliant surroundings. Great staff and venue.
Went with family food was fabulous staff where very welcoming definitely go again when we visit the family really annoyed it
