We stopped here and ordered up some Brisket Nachos!! (For those keeping track YES, thats the second Nacho of the evening ... Now, we are kinda Nacho snobs... if you put yellow gunk cheese on them you get an automatic 8 point deduction... if the chips are to thin or soggy thats about a 5 point loss and if you put Chili on as a base you also loose 4 points.... That said, these are a solid 8/10! The brisket was top notch and a generous portion, the cheese was not just out of a can(at least best i could tell and the whole thing was crispy and fresh! The only reason they get a 8/10 is the chips are just not right for the dish. They are kinda thick and lack that solid nacho flavor... STILL GREAT!!!.... But not right. To the non Nacho Aficionado these are a 10/10 all day. The rest of the menu will definitely have us coming back soon, the look like they have some great sides/sandwiches and other meat offerings! The Brisket was amazing! (The price on the Nachos was also pretty good! I can say BBQ prices in general have gone up and probably are going to go up some more, so i really hope these great businesses are able to keep people coming in! THE SMOKE FLAVOR HERE IS WORTH THE PRICE! Enjoy! Let me know how you like the Nachos!
They basically sauced the hell out of dry meat. It wasn't terrible. I imagine it would have tasted fine if it was just finished cooking. It was edible. And not everything was dry. The turkey was moist and juicy. They claim they don't sauce their meat... they sure as hell did for their burnt ends when I ordered from them.
Three and half. Every thing was pretty good. Ribs where done 2 plus hours before they took them out...not good, totally dried out, too bad because the slab looked nice at one time I am sure. Also bacon candy thing while ok didn't really taste like bacon almost like just plain uncured pork belly was used. Every thing else was good, brisket, wings, sides, sauce just wish the ribs were better.
Stopped because of others talking about other locations of Docs. Staff was incredibly nice and checked on me regularly. Food was only ok. $28 for a sampler platter, single side and a soft drink. Sausage was good, tried the egg potato salad, was creamy but not a lot of flavor. I love sweet BBQ sauces but theirs was woah sweet. The ribs were kind of dry for 11:30am, def felt like I was getting left over meat from yesterday. The brisket though, among the worst I ever had. Very dry and over cooked. I balanced it on my knife and it was flat as a board, no bend to it at all. I've had better at Dickeys. Glad to have a bbq stand in the far western suburbs but either quality needs to improve or price needs to come down for me to come back.
It's rare that northerners can pull off real Texas style BBQ, but these guys have done it. Some of the best Briquet and burnt ends that I have ever had. The pulled pork and ribs were solid as well. A must try if you miss real BBQ! Oh yea and they make their own apple pie moon shine
