The food was fresh and delicious, the staff were very attentive, the cocktails were great and the dj played good tunes! Overall it was a great atmosphere, yes it's slightly more expensive than elsewhere in the area but I feel it's well worth it! I will be back again!
I'm a regular at Loteria but my mum had yet to try the new menu so we went up one Sunday afternoon. Neither of us were disappointed. We shared the prawns pil pil to start and this was better than the same dish I had on holiday this year in Spain. It was lucky there was an even amount of prawns as we would have been battling for them! For mains we shared ribs, half a chicken, sweet potato fries and rice. The meat feel off the bone of the ribs and was divine. I always think I'll regret ordering chicken at a restaurant but not at Loteria, the meat was so tasty. The sweet potato fries with garlic aioli were the best I've had and so moreish it was hard to stop eating once full! Service as attentive and welcoming as ever... can't wait to go back for the NYE party!
Seriously, you can only pay with cash. Food was ok. Portions were tiny. The inconvenience of having to run to an ATM machine makes dining here not worth it. I'd rather go somewhere I can just swipe my credit card.
I eat here sometimes and i have to say the foods tasty and service is good etc. However one thing that annoys me is the constant white lies from the staff who are obviously being told what to say by the ownership. This place has been through more name changes than p diddy. Yes they say its new ownership but its not. This is staringly Obvious when you eat there and your constantly told sorry we dont have a card machine because were setting up a new business account... Like once you believe it but when your regular enough like myself and told every month the same its annoying..as is the walk to the cash machine. The owners obviously have some credit /bankruptcy issues with getting a card machine in. If they want to keep their customers they should be honest and get this sorted! Birdcage/loteria and now bao burger. Zzzzz
I have never had a bad meal here, the food is always tasty and so are the cocktails. No complaints there... HOWEVER... the last time I was here I waited 30-40 minutes to be shown a menu and we left instead of waiting longer. The time before that I was in for lunch while on a break at work. There was a table of 6 of us and the waitress patronisingly remarked, after we 'd ordered drinks, come on girls, no cocktails? how boring! I 'm guessing this was because the cocktails are more expensive than soft drinks! I tried to explain that I wanted one sandwich without the cheese and in a wrap instead of a bap... not that difficult... the waitress tutted, sighed and said exasperated What is it you want??? I repeated myself, she repeated what I said wrong with attitude, so I said it doesn 't matter I 'll have it how it is on the menu and glared at her. I think she realised how rude she was because she then said in a much milder voice no it 's okay, what you suggested sounds really good ... why the dramatics then?! Anyway, I actually will go back because I enjoy the food, just need to order off the menu and wave arms around in the air to attract attention.
