The Sunny Side Cafe - Berkeley

The Service is shocking. Took over 1h30 to get order.. food average at best. Will not be back

This is an excellent brunch spot in Berkeley. Loved the open seating yet with shade. There were multiple levels and open seating. We order and pay at the counter inside and the food is served to us at the table. Quick and efficient service. Lot of vegetarian options. I ordered the pesto veggie sandwich and the waffle tasted delicious. Great date spot as well. Will definitely recommend !

Good food with large quantity. One entree can serve two people. The coffee here, specifically the cappuccino, is almost no coffee and all foam. Come here for the food. Also the outdoor seating is great featuring a nice garden.

I rarely write reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was so negative that I felt compelled to share. I went there for Sunday breakfast and found that there were only a few other customers present. It took over 20 minutes for someone to take our order, and then an additional 35 minutes for our food to arrive (simply eggs Benedict and eggs with toast). When the food finally came, both the eggs Benedict and the side potatoes were completely cold. Despite my reluctance to send food back, I felt compelled to do so after waiting for so long and receiving cold food. However, it took another 20 minutes to receive a replacement. The waiter was apologetic and promised to remove the dish from the bill, but when we finally went to pay (after a long wait for the bill), we discovered that we had been charged the full price. The atmosphere was chaotic, and we ultimately decided not to argue and simply paid and left. It's a shame because the restaurant is charming, but we will not be returning.

Scrambled eggs were dry and barely scrambled...pineapple had brown spots...toast barely toasted...worst place I 've been to in all of Berkeley.
