Pretty standard bar food, generally speaking, but the experience we had the other night made me vow to never return here. Our friend has a peanut allergy. Nothing on the menu is listed as containing peanuts. She ordered the Barbacoa tacos. As soon as she 'd finished the first one, she realized something was wrong. She started to her mouth started to feel itchy. She asked the waiter if there were any peanuts in the taco, somehow, (because who puts peanuts in a barbacoa taco, right? and the waiter said Not to my knowledge, but I 'll check with the kitchen . Turns out, they use peanut butter in the preparation of the meat. We complained to the manager, concerned for the other people with allergies who may frequent Brickside. He did not apologize. They offered to call an ambulance, but that 's where the niceties ended. He said, We 're following the law... as though that was supposed to make up for the fact that our friend was breaking out into hives. She went to the emergency room later that evening. They didn 't even comp us the barbacoa tacos which caused the whole mess. I 'm guessing they 're not going to want to cover the emergency room bill, either.
My wife and I stopped in for dinner on Tuesday night this week. We were greeted very kindly by the staff, and our waiter was solicitous and efficient. We ordered a burger and split it, along with some broccolini, a couple of glasses of wine, and the soup of the day which was tomato with, I think, goat cheese. The burger was great, the broccolini good, and the tomato soup was forgettable, tasting more like someone had just taken some Cento tomato paste, added a bit of water, maybe some salt and pepper, and thrown some goat cheese on top. The wine selection by the glass was good but not a bargain. There was a promotion on beer, but it was by the pitcher, and an unappealing US mass-market beer, so no interest there. The online Tuesdays promotion was $12 burger and beer, but for some reason we seemed to have missed the point there--the materials they supplied seemed to stress the beer pitcher and not the $12 burger with it. We probably just failed to understand. We ended up paying something like $60 for a burger, some soup and two glasses of wine. This was greatly overpriced in my view. I think we could have gone to Mortons or the Capital Grile and gotten better food for less. Notwithstanding, it was good, the place had great ambiance, and the wait staff and management were very nice and responsive. It looks like a great place to get together with a friend or two for happy hour, taking advantage of the inexpensive appetizers and drinks.
There was nothing notable, everything was average. I think it was over priced.
Have had drinks and dinner at the bar before, which was fine. Four of us went for a table on a recent Saturday night and it was a disaster. Not sure if it was just our server or the kitchen, too. Not super crowded. Seated promptly, waiter took our drink order shortly thereafter, and we then waited 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Probably another 20 minutes before he came back to bring the drinks. Walked way before we could order and didn't come back to take the our food order for another 15 20 minutes. Food then took 30 45 minutes to arrive, and when it did, the flat bread, which usually comes out piping hot, was cold and hard must have been sitting for at least 25 minutes. Didn't see out waiter again for another 25 minutes. He brought the desert menus only after we asked for them (another wait) and when we wanted to order, he took one persons order and then walked away without waiting to see, let alone asking, if anyone else wanted anything. Thankfully, we were with good friends we had not seen in a while, so we were able to enjoy ourselves despite what certainly makes the top ten list of worst restaurant service ever.
Took my boyfriend out for a surprise date and we LOVED this place. They happened to be doing a trivia night when we were there (maybe they do them on Wednesday nights? , but regardless our food was amazing and cooked perfectly. Drinks were amazing as well.
