I have a favorite BBQ place in Newark, but unfortunately, this restaurant didn't impress me much. The service was slow and the prices were high for lunch. It would be nice if they offered more variety for those unfamiliar with Portuguese cuisine. I ordered the steak, which was decent. The fries tasted like they were cooked in oil. The rice seemed like it was from a mix. Overall, the meal was not very exciting. The highlight was the Orange Soda, which was delicious. I might return just for that.
The BBQ chicken and pork ribs were quite enjoyable. Some of the meat was slightly dry, but overall delicious. I appreciated that steamed broccoli was offered as a side. The black beans had a pleasant, slightly sweet taste. The service and atmosphere were good, although slightly hurried.
I am originally from the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ, where Portuguese restaurants are plentiful. After moving to Pennsylvania, I struggled to find a Portuguese restaurant. I am Portuguese myself, so finding Europa in Elizabeth, NJ, I was pleased to see there was one nearby. I ordered picadinho for pickup today and it was delicious! This will definitely be my go-to spot now. Thank you! The food was so good!
Always a great meal here! Love the chicken combo with either the steak (perfectly done as ordered), pork ribs or shrimp. We always get it with the rice and black beans. Owner is super nice and welcoming. I have bought trays of food from here when I have a large crowd and it never disappoints!
The best barbecue place i have ever been to in my life and i mean it. Love the food. Everything on the menu is a delight and specially the chorizo. The owner is a super friendly guy and he makes sure that you feel home. Been going to this place since 5 years now and it never disappointed not even for once. If you’re doing a takeout, try the meat platter, its just justice done right for the money you spent. They do have BYOB which is a plus. And their flan is a must try after dinner.
