The staff were attentive, when it came to the wine list, we hit the same problem again as we did in the bar, the wine list, no Australian or NZ wines. We ordered a Spanish Rioja, we were informed it was not avaliable last one went on the weekend. We ordered an Argentinian wine red Argento, eventually it appeared , with the apology that it came direct from the cellar stone cold. We had ordered our starters, so we left the wine until it got nearly to room temperture in our room and had two Gin and Tonic's as our apertif. The meal was pretty average and a shame because the staff on the floor were friendly and doing their best . In summary I should have bought snacks in Starbucks.
Had buffet breakfast here twice during our stay at the hotel. The Saturday morning was great as we arrived at 8am as it was quiet. On Sunday morning, however there was a queue of at least a dozen people due to a lack of staff meaning tables could not be cleared. During our meal we sat and could see at least 6 tables waiting to be emptied whilst customers waited outside. They also ran out of yoghurts and there was a large queue to use the one slow, unpredictable (bread or burnt) toaster. On both visits the staff were very friendly and helpful but it did seem unclear to us as to who did what role eg who was checking rooms and taking payments, who was serving hot drinks and who was cleaning tables, which was probably why the problem occurred with the queues. No manager was visible on site, except for a woman who asked if the waiter wanted help, then she ran off again!
Got told about this ‘fine dining experience’ whilst staying at the hotel so had to give it a go. Took us 5 minutes to be acknowledged even when there were 4 staff at the bar talking to each other. Had to take my name and room number before we were allowed to be seated? Sat down and told someone would be with us to take our drinks order. 10 minutes the same guy arrives and takes our drink order. 5 minutes later returns saying the gas had gone so couldn’t have what I wanted. 10 minutes later drinks arrive and get told someone would take our food order. 15 minutes later the same guy checks back to see if we’ve ordered- we hadn’t- as we start to order two of the items not available. Decided that it probably wasn’t the best place to dine and paid for the drinks and left, no apology only a ‘try the pub they serve all night’. Went to the pub section of the hotel to find they’d stopped service! Service is insane no communication, constantly ignored and staff who haven’t got a clue what they’re doing! Thank god for justeat.
Service great. Seated straight away. The staff were very polite and attentive. Summer and the bar staff very nice the starter was unlimited and varied. Followed by a choice of two carved roasts.beef or Turkey with vegetables and Yorkshire puddings. Followed by a choice of desserts. 15 pound per head.definitely will go back
Eaten here while stopping at the village hotel and the food was poor when the food came the starters were cold and the mash potato was cold and the rest of the food was lukewarm at best. When you are paying premium prices I expect much better.
