The Malt Shovel - Bradford

This was my first time at Malt Shovel and it was very crowded. The server who took our order was excellent and the food was amazing. I will definitely be returning next week.

The food here used to be excellent.. with quality, local ingredients being used . A recent visit however was very disappointing.. many of the dishes on the now limited menu were sold out and the vegetarian options non existent . The younger members of the family ordered burgers which were clearly not from a local butcher , they were small , tasteless and full of fat . The chips were overdone and there was no salad garnish. Needless to say we won’t be eating there again .

We have been visiting the Malt over the last four years or so. This place used to set the bench mark for pub burgers pies. Unfortunately over the last six months we have seen a steady decline in the quality of food, soggy overcooked chips, smaller pie size poor presentation. Waiting times are also ridiculous. This is such a shame. Won’t be booking any further visits until the reviews on here start to get better.

We usually go midweek and have no problems yesterday however was a different matter,childs meal the roll with the hotdog was rock hard,presumably it had been mcrowaved with the hotdog,cajin chicken sandwich wrong bread and for some reason had been toasted,Ham and pickle sandwich was swimming in pickle and my salad leaves contain leaves which had gone mushy and the soup was very bland,such a shame, hopefully this is a blip as we love the pub.

We've frequented this establishment regularly over the last 13 years and always found the service and quality of food excellent. However, we decided to call in for lunch today 21/6/23 , walked in and ordered drinks and were asked if we were eating, we said yes and drinks were brought to the table along with menus...After sitting there for almost 45mins without a waiter arriving to take our order we decided to leave ...I went to the bar to pay for our drinks and commented that we intended to eat but no one had come to take our order, it was at this point we were told there was no table service, Nowhere in the place does it inform you of that fact. Needless to say, today was our last visit.
