I love Waitrose and the Beckenham store is no exception. However, I DESPAIR of the plant care I see in many branches. Waitrose stocks well grown, good quality plants, which are not the cheapest, but in warm, dry weather I am constantly greeted by wilting plants crying out for water, which is such a waste. Last weekend it was the beautiful dark pink lupins at the Beckenham branch that were seriously wilted and not far from being damaged beyond the point of recovery. It's such a waste!! I mentioned this to a partner last summer, asking that they pass the message on to management, but I've seen it again this year. I do appreciate that there are far worse things going on at present, but these plants have been grown, taken resources and been paid for, just to be left to die and be completely wasted, and, I presume, just thrown away eventually. Come on Waitrose, it wouldn't take much to organise watering these plants properly, even if only once a day. Don't be so brazenly wasteful.
Pretty good red wine selection, but a bit unimaginative in the malt whisky and real ale departments.
