Sottovoce - Brooklyn

This is a charming and delicious neighborhood Italian restaurant in the heart of Park Slope in Brooklyn. I went with family for lunch on a Monday and we practically had the place to ourselves. The food was excellent, the service even more so, but it was pricey (over $450 for four people with 2 bottles of wine, coffee, and dessert, plus tip). Our server appeared to be family of the proprietors since, when we praised him on his ability to recite the entire menu from memory, he allowed as how he have been working there from the age of 12. He had very helpful suggestions and input for our food and wine selections (helpfully every table comes pre-set with a bottle of Italian wine to inspire the clientele). My favorites on the menu were the Caesar salad (arguably the best I've ever had) and the eggplant parmesan, uncharacteristically served as a long, flat, fried filet. I was less fond of the calamari (not bad, but I've had better) and the cheesecake made with Ricotta instead of American cream cheese (I discovered I prefer the latter). Because of the price, this place is better suited to special occasions rather than everyday dining, but it was quite enjoyable.

OK, here is the real deal. This place is AWESOME! The food is over the top fresh and tasty. The pasta is really good, and I would highly recommend the fresh made pasta with meatballs. The service was also good, and the server was very attentive to our needs (e.g., didn't have to ask for more water or utensils). Great for groups of 15-20 people. I can see this place becoming a favorite for many.

Wonderful family Italian restaurant. Delicious food, cozy vibe, and great service. This is exactly what you want when you get Italian. Highly recommend.

Really good food and servers who actually care about the food they serve. We did cocktails, entrees and dessert and came in around $70 per person. Totally worth it.Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free pasta and seem to try to accommodate other allergies. They want you to have a good experience.

Everything was really delicious. The food was high quality and thoughtful, the service was knowledgeable and friendly! I’m excited to come back soon.
