I would go back for sure. Great for birthday or a romantic dinner with your spouse. It’s a must have if your in the brownsville area.Food: 5/5
Our server was ArmandoHe did a great jobWe had the signature la troje molcajeteReally good. Also had the parrillada de verduras. Really good flavors. Everything is grilled to perfection. The music is a delightful additive to the ambience. Loved it.
Got the tuetano with esquite and the sopa de tortilla. Service was okay, took a bit to come to our table. But overall everything was good. will come back.Food: 5/5
As someone who’s been to Mexico many times in her life knows delicious, authentic Mexican food, this place is insane! The food is delicious. The drinks are fresh tasty. Homemade everything, from what I can tell. If you like chicharrones, try theirs! The tortillas hechas a mano are to die for. You will not regret it! It’s a must when I’m in Brownsville! And probably the only reason my boyfriend will travel here with me on my work trips lol. Cons: it is smaller/more crowded than other places, but well worth it. Also 3 out of the 5 times I’ve visited, the wait staff wasn’t the friendliest but they were the only 2 for the whole restaurant, so they may have just been over sat. But the live sax player made the wait worth it.
I was turned on to this restaurant by my brother who could not stop going on and on about his place. This restaurant is located in a very unassuming strip mall. The parking is adequate. As we walked in we were greeted by a very talented keyboardist singing sabor a mi! I thought ok, that’s a good sign!We were a party of 9 adults. As soon as we were seated they served us salsa with cubes of queso panela and nopalitos sliced in strips.Refried beans with chorizo salsa and chips. We were off to a good start. We ordered 2 botanas and the tuétano (bone marrow) appetizer with esquites. The tuétanos were amazing and unctuous. The botanas included rib eye, hotel ribs, finger ribs, beef fajita, grilled chicken, sausage, grilled onions, grilled noaplitos, chiles toreados and baked potatoes. We loved the presentation of the botanas as they were lit on fire and gave the meat an amazing toasty charred flavor. It was an enormous amount of food and it was delectable. The corn tortillas were hand made and amazing. The only thing was that when the staff brought out all our food, no body was taking the appetizer plates so it was getting a little crowded on the table. We had to ask to have used plates removed. That is not a big deal but a $400 meal should include impeccable service. The food was great, you willNot be disappointed.
