Kanpai - Cairns

Ate for the first time here last night. Great atmosphere and excellent service. The iPad Menu plus Cart system takes a little getting used to, but the food came very quickly and was very tasty. We had a hot dish first, followed by a selection of sushi. The hot dish (Teriyaki Chicken) was fantastic. Melted in the mouth and was possibly the best I've ever had. The sushi that followed was also very tasty and most varied. The only downside is that the restaurant is a little on the expensive side. But I guess you pay for excellence!

My husband and I visited Kanpai while in Australia. The restaurant was recommended by my local brother-in-law and it exceeded our expectations. The menu had a great variety of freshly cooked dishes and the service was excellent. We can't wait to return to Kanpai on our next trip down under.

Amazingly tasty food, very friendly staff, fast service. Great prices. We will be back for sure!! We went in on quite a busy night, food and drinks still came quite quickly.

I almost felt like I was in Japan again when visiting Kanpai. The menu was quite extensive and quite similar to what I would expect in Japan, and also quite reasonably priced. Seeing the amount of people come into the restaurant, it seems very popular too. Ordering is quite simple and the staff are very willing to help too. It wasn't quite as raucous as many of the places I frequented in Japan, but all the same it seemed to have a very nice atmosphere within the restaurant. Best to try a variety of dishes.

Walked in to Kanpai & they were busy. No problem, the young maitre d ushered us to our choice of tables.We were left to ponder the menu & because we are vegetarian, we had a few amendments for our order. They have a brilliant touch screen ordering system at each table. There is an option to write " notes to the kitchen" about each dish you were about to order. We utilised this option for all of our orders.Instantly, the Maitre d came over to discuss our requests & they were " not a problem". Each dish was EXACTLY the way we had asked & each dish was fabulous!!!!We partook in 90 minutes of karaoke @ the very reasonable price of $5 per person for an hour.We're going back for our last night of our holiday but if we lived here, it would be " our local".Give it a try, you'll love it!!!!
