The serve replaced the order with a full order. The drinks were really nice and the atmosphere was really nice. Definitely would go again.
Classic brunch spot with a nice variety of options but wasn’t too memorable. I wanted to like the dishes more waffles were nice and crispy but toppings made it overly sweet. We got a cornbread waffle too which was good but not a wow. Overall felt like this was maybe just a step up from a good homemade brunch, which is maybe exactly what some people are looking for. We loved the venue sat on the roof which felt so cozy and bright. Prices are a little expensive for what it is, especially beverages.
LovVvvVvvVvvvve!! Was in from Pittsburgh was recommended to try this place. Service Staff was exceptionally ahHhhmazing! Kind, welcoming, so accommodating. They were immensely BUSY; taking reservations still managed to accept us, even though we were walkins! FOOD was delectable! Very small place. However the aesthetic atomsphere is very chill with a sense of community; very cozy charming space! Next time I am in DC, I will definitely be back! That Green Eggs special, ahHhhhHhhh SO GOOD!
Went for Saturday brunch with reservations we were seated upon arrival. I got the 2 eggs with a bucket of bacon it was so yummy! My husband got the chicken waffles, removed a star because we had to ask for the jalapeños syrup that it was supposed to be served with. Friend ordered the Belgian omelet and he raved about it. We 3 split the doffle as a sweet treat, and it too was a delight. Prices are comparable to others in the area.
The food is excellent and the ambiance is lively, though it can get quite noisy. The service is attentive, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. If the weather is nice, try to sit outside for a great view of the bustling Barracks Row nightlife – the windows open fully, giving the restaurant an airy feel. There’s also bar seating available, which is a nice alternative if you prefer not to sit at a table. Speaking of the bar, Belga boasts an extensive drink menu that caters to nearly every palate, featuring signature cocktails, beer cocktails, a wide-ranging wine list, and a huge selection of beers, many of which are imported from Belgium and Europe, giving them a more authentic taste. They even have a signature beer brewed just for the restaurant, and it's delicious! The brunch menu caters to all tastes, offering everything from poached eggs with smoked salmon to vibrant green eggs (yes, they’re actually green, made with cheese and spinach) and, of course, their specialty: waffles. You can’t go wrong with any of the waffle choices, whether you're craving berries, powdered sugar, whipped cream, or caramelized apples. I can’t quite pick a favorite, so it’s up to you to decide! Additionally, the crepes are fantastic, especially the banana and Nutella-filled ones, and you can even add ice cream for a special treat! While the menu can be a bit pricey, the portions are satisfying, and the quality of the food and the fun atmosphere make it worth it. Surprisingly, the crepes and waffles are not overly sweet on their own, though the toppings do add a delightful sugary kick. The seasoned potato cubes are also a hit, popular for any meal! The dinner menu is equally impressive, though I do prefer brunch at Belga. If you’re a fan of mussels, they're a house specialty here, offered in various flavors from white wine to blue cheese and bacon, but they aren't to my taste as they tend to be too fishy for me. The entrees, including seared scallops and poached halibut, are beautifully presented without being overly heavy. The bread served at the start of the meal is excellent as well. Belga Café is a wonderful option since brunch spots can be hard to find in the Capitol Hill area, where other restaurants like Banana Café and Starfish Café offer more standard fare. It’s conveniently located near the Eastern Market metro stop. Overall, Belga is definitely worth the wait, especially if you’re craving waffles! Bon appétit!
