Solid, well prepared and very tasty comfort food even if colesterol loaded. Tradition is respected! Nice decor and service. Very good wine list.
Friends took us to this restaurant . The service was great very clean and rustic . This was my favourite meal of the holiday excellent quality good portions meat cooked on wood fire excellent . They also have a great wine selection. Wry reasonable
So sad that this restaurant has lost its way! we came to a very empty restaurant around 18.30 clock to be asked if we have booked and to say that we have booked, it felt uncomfortable and we said if they have not been in place. we would not go a problem! they quickly found us a table next to two other tables taken in an otherwise empty restaurant. we were invaded by flying and hit them all the time we were there! we ordered the bark espatada regional, that is a very traditional type of cooking of bark meat. the bark had no taste of sea salt, garlic and rose petals. I've been coming to madeira since the early 1980s and never had such a bad food. we talked to the nativity after we had paid, and said how disappointing the whole experience was and told him we were not back and we were regular visitors on the island. He was so not interested. as sad as it was a very good restaurant a few years ago and now it is just a second guess tourist spot
We have eaten here at 3 nights, tried various dishes, all were absolutely delicious! the goat and rabbit stew are amazing! the portions are really generous (a part can easily feed 2 people! . the location is really beautiful, in the mountains. the service was...also excellent!
