Red Chilli Sichuan - Canberra

I have wanted to try this restaurant since it opened quite a while ago, but never had a chance. I was in the area and needed to grab a quick lunch, and saw they do a take away lunch, so I thought this is my opportunity to give this place a quick try. Unfortunately, the food in the bain-marie isn't kept at a proper high temperature, it was lukewarm, which already disinclines me to return. And then the flavour of the food was not great. I'm quite disappointed.

Been to Red Chilli several times. It's very popular (worth booking), especially with Chinese customers - which I take as a sign of quality and authenticity. The food has generally been highly flavoured and delicious, and the menu includes some seriously hot hot hot chilli dishes if that is your thing. A Canberra favourite of mine. Evening parking is fairly easy.

Nice place with sichuan food for those you like a bit of a kick in their food. Can also get mild dishes to cater for all. Generous serves on food and drink. Reasonably priced and quick service. Worth visiting.

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant. Its more authentic than others so skip over the strange meats as they're usually more of an acquired thing. Try the fish poached in chilli oil or the clams! Hot pot is amazing, great quality and lots of fun! Defintley a top of my list! I know some people mention the service isn't great but a lot of workers are international students and aren't super confident with English or could be new. Imagine how you would act if you moved overseas and started working, might be a little intimidated etc!

I'm not a huge fan of hot food and the pictures didn't allay my fears, all I could see was chilli oil, but the allure of catching up with old friends saw me agree to dinner here. Two friends ordered for the group and there were some surprises there, I don't think i'd eat tongue and tripe if I knew what i was eating ... and it did have a bit of a burn but I enjoyed the dish, likewise the hotpot and sichuan sweet and sour. The food came out quickly and they were generous sized serves and the service was good too. I had a great night with good food and good friends and I m rethinking my stance on hot and spicy, I may be a convert!
