We had just moved in around the corner it quickly became our rest hole. I don't know how many friends, family, colleagues or out of town guests we fed during the years we lived so close. Apx 13 years ago we left CA moved to AZ. I still can't find comparable food. In one of my previous visits back home, I packed up a couple of meals took it home on the plane. I grew up with a Hispanic aunt love good Mexican food. That being said, I'm back in town for a stressful time, yet thrilled covid political reaction didn't close them down. After a stressful morning, we came in for lunch. We recognized loved faces we ordered my Chili Colorado Mega Wet a Carnita plate. I sucked on chips cradling the beloved sour cream sauce salsa selection. I cried over a margarita. I savored every bite. I took half home to share with my mom. We dropped $50 for 2 meals, Margarita, tip I love you, Rey Azteca Ishmael,
As small intimate Mexican restaurant with a large menu and excellent wait staff. Service was spot on, staff was accommodating and friendly and the prices seemed below what you would expect. The chips and salsa were top notch but the food failed to impress. Each member of my party, including myself, did not love the food. The presentation of the food was very good, it smelled good, but you could not escape some of the bland tastes or odd surprises. (Like white salsa! For the ambiance, staff, location and price we would all come back; it looked like the place could convert to a dance club at night—and that would be worth coming back for— but overall, the food was just okay.
This is the smaller of the two Azteca restaurants. It's pretty small inside, but worth being a little cramped for the delicious food! I had the Judos tacos special and my date had the 2 item combo chicken enchiladas we were both very happy with our tasty meals and the very fast and friendly service.
Really great food, however I'm like 95% certain an employee memorized my credit debit card information and attempted to make a purchase later the same day.
I ordered the Mega Wet Burrito and it was great. Their chips are seasoned and their green sauce with lime and cilantro is very good. The pastor was seasoned nicely with a spice I couldn’t put my finger on, I thought maybe it was cumin? Either way it was hands down one of the best burritos I’ve had from Sacramento .
