So, do not come in quick service expect because this is proud of his work and it shows (and so worth it is also extremely friendly and was very excited to see us coming. I recommend the Hunan beef if they can tolerate seasoned, but that is my is also very good.
This is such a hidden gem. if they like quality Cantonese/Hong kong kitchen, this is the
This is the best authentic Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. The owner serves as host, waiter, and cook, so don't expect quick service. However, his pride in his work shines through and it's worth the wait. He is also very friendly and welcomed us warmly. I highly recommend trying the Hunan beef if you can handle spicy food, but everything on the menu is delicious.
I can't believe it, the owner of this restaurant never seems to age! I remember him being the same when I was 8 years old, and now I'm 47! It's like he's stuck in a time warp. He swears it's MSG that keeps him looking young. Despite his wife's passing, he continues to run the restaurant just as he always has, with no changes. The place looks exactly the same as it did all those years ago.
Jim traveled to the USA in the 70s, trained in San Francisco at Happy Palace and became a citizen in the 80s. He picked two guys and cooks what could be the best traditional Chinese food I've ever had. After losing his wife, he leads the shop himself and is dedicated to his art and his family. He is an amazing person and a wonderful host. Do not let yourself be fooled by appearance or waiting times (one person operation takes time); sit down a little and have a wonderful experience.
