Il Baretto - CASTELNUOVO DI GARFAGNANA

Our second time here and it didn't disappoint. The fried polenta is incredible. I had the steak with truffles and my husband had the veal. Molto buono! The waitress was so friendly and helpful with our limited Italian. The bathroom is adorable too ... pots and pans for the sink. I highly recommend Ristorante Il Baretto.

Simple food beautifully prepared. I ordered a fillet of trout that was slow cooked and it was packed with flavour. I would return time and time again if I was a local resident.

Food here was good, small choice on the menu however they had the grill on which was a nice change from pizza and pasta. We ordered the mixed grill and pork kebab which we enjoyed. The best part of the meal was the antipasti which I would highly recommend, perfect to share between 2 people.

I wish we had found this restaurant sooner! Excellent food and excellent service. We had the truffle noodles, chicken, beef with truffle and beef with herbs, all of which were really delicious. The puddings were great too! Would thoroughly recommend!!

We didn’t find it that easy to find somewhere in Castelnuovo and this place was near where we parked. The welcome is friendly and the food perfectly pleasant although modest, almost “homely” which is fairly typical of small restaurants in this part of the world. Homemade chocolate tart for dessert was very nice. Fillet of trout with “seasonal vegetables” (which turned out to be carrots). Modestly priced which seemed about right.
