The restaurant has cute Antique like decor, and has a comfortable, laid-back atmosphere. Wide variety of breakfast options from breakfast burritos, waffles, eggs Benedict, and omelettes. My husband and I shared a MASSIVE cinnamon roll which was pretty good (not quite like a Cinnabon but good). I then had a ham breakfast burrito... not even kidding the burrito weighed about 2-3 pounds! Full of hash browns, eggs, ham, green peppers, and cheese! My only suggestion is to add hot sauce as an option. As for my husband, he tried the country steak which he also said was great. We also loved that our bill was less than $20! So great food for a great price!!
Stop what you are doing and immediately make plans to go to the Stove House Family Restaurant for breakfast/brunch as soon as you can. Every Sunday we try a new place for brunch and as we were on our way to Backbone State park, we found this little gem. The service was fast and friendly. The scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. The bacon was ginormous. The waffle was tender on the inside and slightlt crispy on the outside. ....in other words....10/10. This isnt your trendy hipster brunch place where they server cereal out of a vintage boot. This is a small town restaurant which probably hasnt changed in decades. But, arent the best places to eat the ones which have been around for a long time? I think so,. The other awesome thing was that when their buffet ended....the owner walked around offering people the fresh bakery goods which were left over. Who does that? Seriously, if you manage to get your way north of Cedar Rapids, you really should stop in and experience this little slice of heaven.
My husband and I stopped there last night because we had to pick something up in Coggon and thought we'd give it a try and we were not disappointed! We ordered the tenderloins, he got the jumbo I got a small and we also split some cheeseballs. The service was amazing! Tenderloins were perfect the atmosphere was great! Definitely will be going back and trying something else on the menu. The portions were huge I had to take half of mine home!
I often spend my weekend mornings with my wife driving around looking for the next best breakfast place in the area and We came across a good one here. I had an absolutely amazing country fried steak with a side of crispy hash browns and properly cooked eggs (I have been being let down lately in that department; and my wife had the steak and eggs. I was surprised that it was a real steak! Not the typical flattened breakfast steak I to often see. Everything was cooked just right, food was hot and the price was right. Can 't wait to get back and explore more of the menu. And if your as lucky as us there may be girl scouts selling cookies right outside the front door for the small road trip home. Keep it up stove house!
I give one star. I won't go back. I had a Chef Salad with chicken. It was not a quality salad. Iceberg lettuce and not much for chicken or toppings. The oil and vinegar was served with filthy glass containers. Sticky and yucky. I used a napkin to hold it with. I stopped eating when I found a long black hair in the salad.
