We went last Sunday after church and from the time the owner greeted us it was a wonderful dining experience! The food was delivered promptly and absolutely delicious. I'm mad I forgot to take a picture. We had delicious catfish, shrimp and wonderful sides to choose from. This is a gem in Charlotte you won't regret going ,elegant but, comfortable dining experience we will be back and thank you for your attention to detail.
Mr. Mrs. Fresh are amazing people whom shows tremendous pride in what they've built. The ambiance is beautiful with excellent service to match. The food it Top Tier! Everything fresh and homemade with love. In all of my travels, I have never come across another soul food restaurant that can compare to the food at Freshwaters. Everything my husband and I ordered was delicious. Catfish, salmon cakes, BBQ chicken, collard greens, mac cheese, string beans, candied yams, shrimp cocktail, chocolate cake and peach cobbler. Oh yeah, and Mrs. Fresh makes a mean drink! We are going back again today before our flight.
My Minster leader and I were talking on the phone. I was headed to Bobee O 's and she told me she was hungry and was going to a restaurant near our church. I asked her where she said, Freshwaters. Ashe said it was a black owned Wew Orleans soul food restaurant. This peaked my interest, so I turned around and drove 9 miles back.We arrived, and the hostess was very pleasant. As we waited, we mingled with out patrons. We were seated in approximately 10 minutes (not bad considering the after church crowd)Once we were seated, our waitress came with water and corn muffins (which were very good). We ordered the fried pork chops, collard greens, grèen beans, macaroni and cheese, and a side of red beans and rice.My sugar was dropping, and I needed to eat. This was the disappointing part, i asked if we could have another muffin, and politely, she told us we couldn 't. She did, however, come with muffins. She explained the policy on portion control. It took almost 25-30 minutes for our food to come out.You know I was starving at this time. The food was seasoned well, and the person raved about the green beans. I didn 't like the red beans and rice.We were almost finished with our meal and decided to get a slice of the chocolate layer cake. We told our waitress. We waited as the serving staff was not able to cut the cake?????We waited for the owner to finish setting up tables and welcoming guests. After waiting a considerable amount of time, I said to the owner, Can we have some cake? Her response was, You want it now? I held my composure but said, we wanted it 15 mins ago. At thus point I thought when you hit them in the pocket, maybe things will change. I get it that it 's your name on the building, but there was a lot of micro managing so much so that the wait staff was on edge. Our waitress was awesome. But the front of the house needs improvement.
The food was great. The owner welcomed us to her restaurant and explained the menu and specials. My son ordered the ribs, the meat literally fell off the bone. I had the catfish with yams and string beans. The fish was seasoned good. I will make sure that I come back.Food: 5/5
I'm going to say this, for those that say the restaurant is slow, it's true. The food, however, was excellent. The most tender, juicy flake fish and Shrimp combo with red beans and rice, cornbread was great. String beans, not so much. Only the cook and the lady was available early yesterday, but they provided a wonderful meal. The cook actually brought out the food as well. Support this business. They'll all need our support.
