This place is literally THE best Italian restaurant in Charlotte. No joke. I have been looking all over for a place that actually makes northerner-real Italian pizza...I 'm from NY, and this place is legit. It 's amazing...their sauce, the pizza..their pastas...everything. THE BEST.
We normally visit here about 4-5 times a year. Pizza is very good, no doubt. Menu is small, dining room is way too informal and small. Better to consider this a take-out place, Our last visit was our LAST. Went in w/ family of 4, and took 40 minutes to get our order. We were ONLY patrons eating in, and the cashier/counter lady was clueless that we sat there, and were never served (6 slices, garlic knots, salad). Tough order, huh? They appeared to have lost our ticket , and were clueless watching us sit there for 40 minutes and no food. After 20 minutes of waiting, we complained, and still had to wait (they serve some slices, which we ordered, but sold them while we waited). So after we complained that we were not served the slices we picked out behind the counter, we had to wait while they made new pies. Where was the owner? Manager? No one cared. I guess they don 't care. Thankfully, Charlotte now has many other great pizza places, and Palones will no longer be visited by us.
The food here is pretty good though can be a bit expensive. I especially enjoy their spaghetti and meatballs. To Chris James' point, they have overcharged us at least twice at this place. The first time charging for two slices of pizza when we ordered one, and the second ordering two slices, paying for two slices, and when we question why we only got one slice they state that's all we paid for. I'd say they either need a few elementary math sessions or they trying to double their profits without having to work for it : Overall the food is good, a bit expensive, and the owner is pretty rude...
