Afternoon Tea At Oakhurst Inn

The staff at the restaurant were friendly, but seemed unprepared for our visit. It was difficult to locate the restaurant and we were initially seated in a hallway next to a cleaning room, which was inconvenient for me as a pregnant woman. The scones were average, the cream puff centers were frozen, and the finger sandwiches had odd combinations, such as pimento cheese with salmon and overly sweet jam with duck. The seaweed salad on toast was a disaster. The tea selection was limited, with only English Breakfast and Earl Grey available. The staff were unsure of the teas being served and offered little guidance on steeping times. The price was high at $140+ for three people, with mandatory gratuity and no option for resteeping tea. Compared to another tea shop, the quality of food and tea was much worse at this restaurant. Overall, a disappointing experience.

The setting was lovely and the tea was excellent at this restaurant! However, at $32 per person, the food was disappointing. We felt rushed out within an hour to make space for the next seating, despite the lounge being mostly empty. The server seemed surprised by our party size, which was understandable as she appeared very busy. We had called ahead to add one more person to our reservation, but they did not adjust the food quantity for us and still charged us for four. The staff was quite noisy when we first arrived. The highlight of the experience was the high-quality tea and cozy spot by the fireplace.

I had a great experience at the Chateau Lobby bar. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, the food was amazing, and the service was excellent.

A bit noisy when we went. The tea area is right next to the lobby where lots of loud talking was happening. Food is a selection from Albemarle Baking. The ambiance was OK, the fire wasn’t started, and you just felt like you were in the traffic of a busy hotel.

This tea service is not worth $75 for two people. Food was ok...but not fresh. Feels too bar like for afternoon tea. Service was great .
