Penny Black - Cherwell

In penny now waited 10mins for my order to be taken I was next in line the female who was serving ignored me and went to serve someone who had just arrived when I pointed this out I was told I wasn't standing close enough to the bar for her to notice me as I was there for 10mins if she was customer aware she would have seen me I was made to feel stupid and unwelcome staff member needs more training table was dirty had to ask for a cloth to clean it and no apology given

This is a typical Wetherspoons, usual good standard of food, friendly service. Strange choice of items of decor for what was once a post office though, knights helmets and tapestries? The place also looks a little tired and could do with a bit of a spruce up. Our table had initials scratched into it and some varnish missing, sand chairs were a little grubby

I had the ham, egg and chips, my sister had the fish, chips and mushy peas. Plenty of food and very tasty. A very nice lunch after a morning of shopping

We are familiar with many Wetherspoons locations and have dined at 2 others in the past 3 weeks, but the quality at this particular restaurant was subpar compared to the others. One of us ordered the same meal as before, but the portion size was much smaller. Additionally, the food was cold and congealed. The most disappointing aspect, however, was the drinks order. We placed our order on the app, but encountered several issues. Initially, a server informed us that the beer we selected was not available, so we chose another option. When our food arrived, we were already a third of the way through our meal when one drink was finally brought to us with an apology that the other was on its way. Later, as we had eaten almost half of our meal, the same server informed us that our second choice beer was also unavailable. It took several more minutes before our final choice of beer was delivered. This level of service was unacceptable and we are unlikely to return in the future.

I have spent loads of evenings in the Penny but tonight after being offered a drink by an intoxicated lady I was refused a drink, just because I knew someone who was drunk ,the manager Courtney) refused to serve me,I was fully aware of my surroundings and just wanted a drink for the 2 of us not the drunk lady) but was refused, I am 53 years of age and never felt so humiliated in all my life.
