Arrived and found the pub completely closed. No telephone call to cancel my booking or any reason for being closed. No hope for any success for this pub!
We booked a table at 1pm for Sunday lunch with our family who had to travel an hour to get there. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we found the restaurant closed. Despite leaving our contact details, we received no explanation or apology. We later learned the pub is under new ownership, but we were extremely disappointed and would not recommend this place to anyone.
I made a reservation for two at this restaurant two weeks in advance for Sunday, December 10th at 12:15. However, when we arrived at 12:10, we found all the doors locked and the restaurant in darkness. We waited for 30 minutes, along with another couple who had also made a reservation, before deciding to leave as it seemed unlikely that the restaurant would open anytime soon. Despite trying to contact the restaurant throughout the afternoon and evening, we were unable to get any explanation for why they were not open. Given that we had provided our contact number when making the reservation, I would have appreciated a call from the manager apologizing for the inconvenience.
I was part of a group of five people, which included Daphne Martin. When I arrived with my wife at 8:15 PM, the other three members of our party were already seated in the bar area at a table for four, even though we had a reservation for five. We waited for about 20 minutes, during which time no staff member came to take our drink orders, inform us of the wait time for a table, or provide us with menus. My daughter, who had made the reservation over the phone, was informed upon arrival that the restaurant had no record of our booking and was too busy to accommodate us. Throughout our time there, no staff member made any effort to communicate with us. We ultimately decided to leave at 8:35 PM, as it was clear that we were not welcome. If the staff had simply apologized for the mix-up and explained the situation when my daughter arrived, we would have considered dining elsewhere and possibly returning another day. However, the lack of communication and assistance from the staff left a lasting negative impression, and I would not consider returning to this restaurant in the future.
