Go for the tofu Pho. You won't regret it. Cocktails are excellent too
We have been away for 4 years and have moved back to Chicago. We always liked Pasteur and we are glad to be back. This is excellent Vietnamese food, better than anything we found in NYC and reminded us of our travels to Vietnam for business and vacation.
4 of us had dinner at simply Pasteur the other evening and split all of the dishes so we were able to try many. Everything was great; good quality, good tasting, nicely presented. Ambience is an upscale tropical feel. The fish of the day was especially tasty. When we heard fried we thought it would be plain but it was nicely seasoned with a light sauce. Their menu easily accommodates gluten free dining.
I have known Kim N., the owner, since she and her family opened the 1st Pastuer restaurant almost 30 years ago. Kim is the ultimate host. She runs the restaurant basically on her own and makes sure each dish served and each drink made is up to her high standards. Kim is also one of those rare owners who actually care about her clients. People may come in as strangers but leave feeling like they have made a new friend. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the garden patio in the back transports you to a vacation courtyard filled with plants and flowers. Simply Pastuer is an undervalued gem. If you are looking for excellent food, perfect service in a beautiful setting, you have found it.
