The staff were so polite, friendly and helpful throughout the stay, and we enjoyed many chats with most of them. The food we experienced at breakfast time and the evening were very well cooked, and extremely tasty. The rooms being well stocked, and the bed very comfortable. Amanda and Sarah run a very good ship indeed. I would recommend a stay at the Avon Causeway Hotel to anyone.
The staff can be unfriendly and unwelcoming, which is a shame as it could be a lovely spot. The food is nice although quite expensive.
I have visited the Avon Causeway since October with 8 of my mum friends with our babies. At first we were made to feel very welcome when our babies were newborn. However, recently the level of service we have received has really deteriorated. On Wednesday, a member of staff was particularly rude to me. I made the manager aware and I’m afraid to say the manager’s response was also incredibly poor. Despite always leaving the pub tidy and ensuring our babies do not disturb other guests here, we have been made to feel most unwelcome and will not be returning. If you are planning on visiting here with young babies, be warned you will not be made to feel welcome!
We chose the Avon Causeway Pub because it was dog friendly. We loved seeing the Pullman linked to the side of the Avon Causeway Pub when we drive into the carpark. It was warm and cosy inside. The landlady Amanda was very friendly and made us feel really welcome. The staff made a fuss of our dog and gave him treats. The menu had so many tasty things on offer it was difficult to choose. I had the crab cakes with chunky chips, my daughter had the vegan pie and my son in law had a burger with fries. All three of us were blown away as it was the tastiest meal we had eaten in a very long time. Have to say as an 86 year old that it was great to receive excellent customer service which nowadays seems to be the exception and not the rule. We will be sure to call again when we are back in the area and will recommend it to everyone. It was a real treat for my daughter who usually has very limited choices as a vegan. All round it was top notch and a wonderful experience. Thanks Amanda and the rest of the staff!
My wife and I celebrated my birthday at the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is dog friendly, we took our 2 dogs along with us. Amanda and Sarah were most welcoming, I made an error in my booking, I asked for a certain room, when I pointed out my mistake, Amanda was most accommodating and moved us to the room we wanted, couldn’t have been made easier. Breakfast experience was very good, the dogs got there own dishes! The hotel is close to good long dog walks, also not far from Christchurch and Bournemouth, all in all a very friendly hotel, good food and very nice staff
