After all, the best Napolitano pie in NYC, Totonno's is already here. I was pleasantly surprised. Grimaldi's isn't flashy, it's pure Coney Island; reverent of the past but with a honky-tonk attitude. The pizza's good too. It's a thin-crust coal oven pie with just the right amount of char while still leaving some pliability in the crust. They use the perfect sauce/cheese ratio and they're not cheap with toppings. The fact that they have beer is a definite plus. All in all, if the line to Totonno's is too long or they're closed, Grimaldi's isn't a bad alternative. It's a cut above regular Brooklyn pizza (the best on the planet).
If your in the area this place is a must. Unlike any pizza I have ever had and haven't been able to find any to compare to it since. Delicious and not your traditional heavy stuffed feeling after you have eaten as pizza pie.
Grimaldi's is simply awesome! Service is consistently friendly, delicious pizza the best I've had in New York! You can choose your own toppings (I do love the pesto one! . I went there on weekends couple of times and had to wait in line, but it was worth it every time! You won't regret it.
It was a great experience, one of the young waiters talked to us about their fresh cheese they use on their pizzas which is delivered daily, brought us a big plate of it to taste. And gave us some history on Grimaldi's Pizza and restaurant. We we treated so well. A great New York experience on Pizza.
