Pueblo Viejo Mexican Cleveland

It was an amazing experience for a place that seems so unremarkable from the outside. You wouldn't expect such excellent service from a spot that appears so unassuming until you step inside. Once seated, we were promptly served drinks and delicious food. The staff checked on us constantly, making sure we had everything we needed. If you require assistance, the team is as quick to respond as your tacos are to arrive!

We stopped in Cleveland, Texas for an overnight stay before our RV repair work scheduled for Monday morning. As a retired chef, my perspective may be biased, but I have to say this is the best Mexican food we’ve had in East Texas. The birria tacos were outstanding, and we also enjoyed the enchiladas, which were fantastic. The margaritas were delightful, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!

This is a great place to come out and have a great authentic Mexican plate and the margaritas are a killer. Also, the place has grown since the last time I was there. Only reason I am given them a 4 start is cause food is not the same as it was before. Notsure if there's a new chef but the one before made everything taste so good.

The service and food was decent, but the portions were small for the price. I think it was $13.99 for a small bowl of Mac n cheese with beef fajita meat. I could've sworn that I read on the menu that the dish also included bacon, but it apparently itdid not. However, the server was kind enough to bring out some bacon crumbles. I felt a little better about the price. The greensauce was absolutely delish! Don't forget to ask for some with the chips.

We informed our waiter, and it was clear that this wasn’t the first time they had encountered such a problem. To make matters worse, he didn’t even clean up the area where he killed the roach! We were so unsettled that we left in a hurry, unable to wait for our check. We went straight to the cashier to pay, and when she asked how our meal was, we told her about the roach. Her response was that she would inform the manager, stating that they had never had that issue before. If it had been a smaller, more common roach, it might not have been such a big deal. But this one was a clear sign of a filthy environment. There was no effort made to rectify the situation—no apologies or offers of compensation, which we really didn’t expect but would have appreciated. We will definitely not be returning to this restaurant!
