We recently spent 4 days in downtown Columbus on a work trip. We usually work non-stop. On this particular trip we had a lot of time off and were able to actually move about and figure out the local flair and color.I walked around for the first few days near our hotel and realized that we didn't have a lot of food options available. There seemed to be a lot of places but very few of them were open. On one of my extended walks I happened upon Deli Boys and popped in for a sandwich to go.The establishment was fairly busy with 2 gentleman behind the counter working furiously. It was fun to watch 2 guys work so efficiently and so non-stop. I can't tell you how many times I have walked into a food place with 7 people behind the counter tripping over each other and the whole place being an absolute disaster. Deli Boys does NOT have this problem.I ordered my sandwich. The gentleman who took my order couldn't have been nicer nor had more personality. Exactly what you are looking for.I waited a few minutes and the gentleman making the sandwiches called out my name. I took this as a bad omen as he wasn't delivering any of the food to the customers, just making sandwiches. Maybe they were out of turkey? He told me that he had made my sandwich hot when I had ordered it cold. I wasn't planning on eating it for a little bit, hence the cold sandwich order. I didn't see the point in making another sandwich so I told him that it was fine. I grabbed my sandwich and headed back to my hotel.Turns out, hot sandwich was the way to go! My sandwich couldn't have been any more delicious. Everything was perfect. The toasted roll, melted cheese, the way everything tied together. I couldn't have been more happy. My feeling is that the 2 guys working have an ownership interest in the Deli Boys. They certainly acted as if they did.If you are looking for an amazing, fairly priced, sandwich in downtown Columbus, Deli Boys is your spot!
My boyfriend and I came her for the first time today and that grilled cheese and tomato soup Def lead up to the hype. We have lived in columbus our whole life and just found this hidden gem. We Def can not wait to come back and eat eat same thing but to try everything else as well. Chad and the chef are the most inviting people, this make your whole experience when you walk in a place and feel like you are at home. Thanks so much for for great great and a new spot to eat. See ya all soon.
Great guys who own and run this place. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious
I ate a delicious lunch earlier today [10-5-2021] at Deli Boys.I have known about Deli Boys for the past several years because a friend of mine had taken a photograph of six costumed street performers posing on the sidewalk immediately outside of that restaurant; that photograph now serves at the profile picture for a Street Art Facebook group of which both of us are members. That picture has also been posted to the Google Maps page for Deli Boys so it can be easily viewed with only minimal searching [particularly if you are reading this review].I had attended a press conference at the Ohio Statehouse early this morning and then decided to eat downtown rather than immediately return home.My obvious choice for lunch had been Deli Boys because I had never before eaten there and because I am a Google Maps Local Guide who is always looking for new places to eat and then to write about.I am usually very good with maps and directions but somehow had misunderstood the location of Deli Boys because I had mistakenly thought that they are on the east side of N. High St. when in fact they are on the west side of N. High St.So when I had reached the Federal Building [on the east side of N. High St without having passed Deli Boys [knowing that I had already walked too far north], I got out my phone, learned the correct location for Deli Boys, and then walked south on N. High St. for approximately one block to their correct location. After entering Deli Boys followed by a brief wait, I ordered an Italian Sausage sandwich; that sandwich was brought to my table only a few minutes later.Deli Boys is simple and unassuming; they are certainly nothing fancy but their food is great and the service is friendly and quick.Deli Boys is open only during the lunch hour, Monday to Friday. My server told me that most of their regular customers work in downtown Columbus within a few blocks of 141 N. High St.I guessed, correctly, that people typically do not drive in from Pataskala to eat there. When I mentioned, immediately before leaving, that I had been intrigued to see white chicken chili on their menu, my server brought out to my table a tiny little cup of white chicken chili so that I would be able to briefly sample that kind of chili.I definitely plan to return to Deli Boys (1 when I am in the area and (2 when they are open.
