My husband's pasty didn't come with a side salad or coleslaw. This cafe needs a major overhaul. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Ann's Pasties are well-known for a reason, and this restaurant is serving them up for all to enjoy. Located on Church Street, the bustling atmosphere is hard to miss. The staff is friendly and the setting is pleasant, with the option to sit outside and people-watch. The prices are fair and they even welcome dogs. On a sunny day, we decided to try the classic cornish pasty with steak filling. While it was a good pasty, it didn't quite live up to the hype. The pastry could have been crispier and the filling could have used a bit more flavor. However, the portion size was generous and it made for a satisfying meal. Overall, it was a decent experience with a great location for relaxing and taking in the surroundings.
Ordered a crab sandwich to go.. Got it home and have to say very disappointing. White ciabatta roll was dry and the crab was a little on the lean side. Even with the small amount of crab I managed a piece of shell with every bite! Simply not good enough..
Waited 20+ minutes for order to be served, at a table that had not been cleared. The 'Ann 's Steak Pasty ' had precisely 5 small pieces of meat in it, plus 1 piece of gristle. The Americano coffees were like dishwater undrinkable. And they were served in takeaway cups they had run out of cups because they hadn 't cleared tables. Complained to staff, got a very half hearted apology.
Fantastic atmosphere. Delicious pastries. Tasty loose-leaf teas. Welcoming staff. Extensive menu options. Both indoor and outdoor dining available. Affordable prices. Overall, a perfect dining experience!
