One of our party has mobility problems, but the staff were really patient and helpful. The menu is unpretentious but varied, and our only problem was deciding what to choose. The Bibury trout was cooked perfectly, as were the steaks and the lamb apricot casserole. There's a range of desserts to pick from, and even the coffee was excellent. We had a lovely afternoon, and will definitely be back!
We had pre-booked a table for twelve and the restaurant had obviously planned in readiness with two serving staff seemingly waiting to serve us. Pre-meal drinks order taken and served seamlessly. Perfect attentiveness and patience for the usual umming and ahhing amongst a large group ordering. The very helpful and friendly 'waitress ' accommodated a few small swaps of chips for mash etc. and helped with advice and recommendations. Timing of service was excellent despite the restaurant being busy from at least one other fairly large group. Attentiveness and demeanour of ALL staff was faultless. I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals which ranged from whitebait starters to curry to pies, roast pork and salmon. Would highly recommend as it was obvious the customer mattered to this establishment. Many thanks.
Delicious food with plenty of vegetarian options which was great to see. We had the specials Katsu curry and squash curry fantastic! Also had the plum and almond tart absolutely delicious. Normal pricing for a pub and very cosy interior around Christmas time.
We enjoyed a very satisfying dinner here last Saturday. We both had a starter: I tried the vegetable samosas; and she the king prawns. Both well-prepared and tasty. There was a good selection of mains. We both had fish, the Bibury trout and the plaice. Perfectly cooked and delicious. Don’t be put off by the use of the term “fries”, for they turned out to be proper chips, and very good too. She drank a very smooth house red, and I had an excellent pint of locally brewed real ale. We didn’t have room for a pudding, but finished off with a perfect double espresso. Relaxing ambiance and great service. Nothing to complain about, so we’ll be back!
We called last Saturday to have a bite to eat en route to Woodstock, and enjoyed a warm welcome, a nice beer and a satisfying lunch. She opted for the poached salmon and I went for the ham and eggs, each with chips. Both meals were perfectly cooked, served promptly and very tasty. This is excellent pub grub.
