Omg the pub has been closed since start of January so only rooms are available total sham, yet still listed as pub which isn't the case. Not manned and only available by phone from 1400hrs to 2200hrs. Rooms not much better unable to fill kettle up as it's too big to pour water into it, ended up using shower head. Nearest place to eat is about 20mins away.
Total rip off! Have stayed here before when the restaurant and bar was open, which added some charm and made it an ‘inn’ They are both closed, so basically you have a room, with no where else to go. Entry is via the fire exit. Rooms very tired. Avoid at all costs
Looking at the photos on their website, I thought I was going to have a comfortable week. The price seemed adequate for the area and close to where I would be working. There are no staff on site and it’s self check in. The pub was closed, the restaurant was closed, the WiFi didn’t work and absolutely no phone coverage. The entrance door is a fire escape and up 3 or 4 steps. Inside the door, are boxes with your room keys in. When I got there, it was quite dark and no lighting to find your key. I used the torch on my phone. The stairs are quite steep up to the room floor. There are 10 rooms in total. Don’t bring too large a bag, as the hall ways are excessively thin. The room, Was very shabby. I’m ex forces and have stayed in some nasty places. The decor is extremely dated. The furniture was like painted home made mdf, but to be fair, the room was a small and odd sized. The bathroom was an adequate size, but, the toilet seat was not secured to the toilet, the toilet brush was stained and covered in rust. Cobwebs in the corners. The shower was looking dirty as in it looked like urine stains all over the tiles and grout. The shower head wasn’t really connected to the wall as the screws had come out. The hose from the shower to the head was all broken and black stained. The shower head itself was covered in black and brown what looked like mould. Water pressure was really poor. The carpet had debris over it when I entered the room on my first day. The bed frame was metal and very wobbly and noisy. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and was an old spring type and quite thin. I could feel the bed slats through it and hear the springs twang every time I moved. Pillows were very soft. Bed sheets were clean as were the towels. A full size kettle in the room was too big to fill in the sink, but over come by using a cup to fill it from the sink. The window was an old type sash window. The locks were broken, but the window opened. The TV was very small and quite unwatchable as the reception was hit and miss. The room was cleaned during the week when I was out. For the £250 I paid for the week, I honestly feel robbed. Poor sleep and poor shower I truly feel the price I would have comfortably paid and been fair would have been £75 for the week. I wouldn’t stay here again.
Just been for Sunday lunch. Poor. The mashed potatoe had raw bits in it, the beef was described as pink, it wasn't, plus there wasn't much of it. Brockley with cheese sauce? Kind of worked. The worst part was the service staff. Very abrupt, asked for salt pepper (you would assume would be on table) and asked if we wanted vinegar- with Sunday lunch. Veg boiler death, and waited ages for veg, then waited again for mustard and horseradish again for gravy. It's hit and miss this place, but last two times have been a miss. Think will leave it for a while. Think the management team should take some time out and train the staff on service and front of house manners Disappointed.
Enjoyed a splendid meal here. I had fish and chips, the fish was perfect and the batter so light. I would highly recomend it.
