Contribuer aux commentairesThis place is a guilty pleasure. The food is truly excellent, after dinning here on numerous occasions I decided to observe the chef whilst waiting for the bathroom. My observation: he takes his job seriously and enjoys what he does. Staff.. well, the customer service let's them down.. expect to feel ignored, that way if they do acknowledge you- it's a pleasant surprise. Drinks.. also not great, I find the cocktails tend to just taste like sugar, without much else. Stick to a beer or wine. Price- its affordable. All in all, the foods authentic, customer service is hit and miss. But, I do recommend.
Meal was really delicious. Presentation could not be faulted. Atmosphere and social setting was great. Even the cocktails were on point. Shame that the service let them down. I was not informed that the area were I was sat was included in a large booking for later that evening. I ate leisurely I am by nature a slow eater) starters and main main course. With an adfirional cocktail. When I requested the dessert menu I was told that I am unable to have a dessert as the area is required and there is insufficient time. Totally Gobsmacked! What happened to communication, why was I not informed earlier, I could have ordered earlier. Why was I not offered alternative seating just 2 of us), perhaps even on the outside terrace it was a balmy evening. Needless to say service required improvement. I was highly disappointed. The suggestion of ordering a dessert to takeaway, just added insult to injury. That being said, I will return as I do enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere, background music is generally pleasing.
We was in the area so we decided to go in, we dis not have a reservation so they sat us outside. The deco is old fashioned and the staff looked unprofessional, on their mobile phone, walking off down the road. We ordered plantain, chunky fries, ribs, festival, mac and cheese, jerk chicken and rice and peas and a few other bits and drinks. Getting all excited for our food, after about 10 minutes the waitress comes back to say their to busy to get our food because we never made a reservation. I've been to classy fine dining restaurants to pub lunches and have never heard of such nonsense. We said we would wait and she point blank said there busy, when the restaurant was not full. This was an absolute JOKE. THE drinks didn't even arrive and there was no one at the bar.
We had a table booked for Sunday night but had to wait a while to be seated, however we did receive an apology for the wait. The food was delicious but I found the curry goat just slightly on the saltier side. The portions were on point as were the cocktails, especially the daiquiri. Lastly, there's a nice vibe, authentic music, a welcoming decor and the staff were courteous. As a resultWill definitely return.
Atmosphere is lovely, food taste excellent, the cocktails were ok. I enjoyed the visit. My birthday was well spent.
