Contribuer aux commentairesSupper at the Bears den and once again it was fantastic. Food is tasty and service friendly and efficient. Hubby had pizza and I had the chicken parm. Both were delicious! For starters we shared the fresh cut chips and dip addictive....need I say more? Had to save room for a butter tart for dessert cause they are amazing....homemade.....delicious! It's where we stop to eat when we travel through Deep River!
The food and service were excellent again today, as we have come to expect. The reason for a down grade to only "very Good" is a questionable billing practice they have adopted. Today for example they had breaded shrimp (it was excellent) as the daily special at $10. This price included a side dish. The server said the side dishes being offered included soup or a salad and that the salads available were a choice of a garden salad, Greek, or Caesar. My wife selected the Greek salad. The salad was quite good. When we received our bill it listed a charge for $1 for a Greek salad. When I questioned the server I was told that there is an extra $1 fee if the selected side is either the Greek or Caesar salad. I pointed out that this extra fee was never disclosed and the server agree that they do not tell the customers, but stated that their computer simply automatically adds the extra charge when they key in the order - and in her apparent opinion that made it either all OK or at least beyond her control. This practice of considering their computer's programmed actions to be some kind of justifiable method and rationale for overcharging the customer is totally unacceptable. Granted that the $1 is not a lot, but it is 10% of their price for the special lunch and charging it without notice and warning as an addition to a published price is unreasonable and dishonest. This dishonesty warrants a downgrade in the evaluation of an otherwise excellent visit. My low rating on value reflects this practice although their overall pricing is otherwise fair. Just be careful to audit your bill when you get it.
We were stopping by on our trip on the Trans Canada Highway for lunch at early afternoon. The restaurant was quite empty. Nevertheless we had to wait for about 45 minutes for quesadilla and burgers. The food was very good except the side house salad. The leafs of the salad were yellow and old, seems that it was not fresh any more. But the restless really good. I would recommend the Bison Burger.Staff was also very nice but as mentioned we had to wait for quite a while without any obvious reason.
A nice stay with with great food a beautiful freshly furnished room. had a great relaxing night and so very well maintained. Hats of to these fine people that made it such an enjoyable stay.
The new owners of this establishment have brought their East Indian cooking to the area, but have kept the restaurant's traditional menu for daily trade. The East Indian dishes tend to be offered at special weekend buffets. A reservation is suggested for these buffets. Service is still quite good and the daily food menu is well prepared and good quality. We treat this as a regular local place for dining out. Prices seem to have gone up slightly with the new ownership.
