The restaurant featured an incredible ramen dish on their specials menu. I would definitely return just for that alone. Rating: Food - 5, Service - 5, Atmosphere - 5.
Impeccable service. Arrived on a Saturday around 7:30 p.m. and there were no more tables available for 4 people. Hosts offered to set up an extra table for us. Unfortunately the quality of the service is inversely proportional to the quality of the food. First, the beer. We took 2 white. Should taste citrus and unfortunately you can almost not discern the citrus taste. The beer is also rather transparent, almost like a blond lager when it should have been rather opaque. Our four dishes: Pizza Madawaska, smoked meat sandwich, chicken burger and mac&cheese. The Madawaska pizza is advertised as being topped with angus meat, that may be true, but it 's ground meat, would have preferred thin slices of meat. Also supposed to be topped with a pepper cheese sauce but unfortunately there was so little sauce that the pizza tasted rather dry. The smoked meat sandwich: Supposed to be locally smoked and fresh meat but unfortunately the taste and appearance rather suggests that it was meat in pre-vacuum-packed packets (much like you find at the grocery store). The bread was supposed to be rye but I got a reheated ciabata instead of properly toasted. The pickled vegetables with Dijon sauce were excellent, I would have had more for $24. Another thing: the sandwich had no sauce...a container of dijon mustard would have been appreciated. The mac&cheese: honestly the portion could be bigger for $18 and although the idea of integrating local cheese (the detour) is excellent, I 'm not sure of the choice to cook it in a crust to serve it with the ma&cheese (it makes it very difficult to eat). The grilled chicken burger: Again the bread could have been better grilled and it had to be topped with the famous pepper cheese sauce, but we only saw traces of sauce. For a $23 burger I expected more. Fortunately the service was fast and courteous and the atmosphere is very good. I find it a little disappointing that there are fewer tables than before (restaurant 1212) but with a few adjustments to the recipes, it has the potential to become the best restaurant in the region. I recently dined at this restaurant for dinner. The price per person ranged from CA$20 to CA$30. The food and service were both excellent, receiving a rating of 5 out of 5 for each. The atmosphere was also pleasant, earning a score of 4 out of 5.
