Contribuer aux commentairesI absolutely was blown away by the food my first time here and since. Sadly the service leaves a lot to be desired. My waitress literally left in the middle of serving my table to go outside with her (bf? Some Detroit celebrity? And we were literally an afterthought to any intention she had for a paying customer. After getting the order completely wrong and charging us for the wrong size items, and having the wings appetizer delivered at the same time as my food after waiting forever for drinks. I was done. The chef should go somewhere they're food can be appreciated.Edit:I appreciate your reaching out to me, I will for sure give you guys another try since I actually love the menu you guys offer but I don't need any kind of gift cards although it's polite of you to offer. I had just never in my entire life had a server just LEAVE in the middle of their job, u think that just really stuck with me. But you guys do really have a great menu and a good selection of beers. Thank you for reaching out.
Common Pub is around the corner from the museums. It has a dive bar feel, but the foot is upscale bistro quality.
Just realized I had put one star instead of five. This is a great establishment and the intention of my review is to give constructive feedback not bring their overall rating down. We've had extraordinary experiences with this restaurant in the past and just recently noticed a few changes. The burgers don't taste as good as they did previously and the duck fat fries are cut too big, they tasted better when they were cut skinny. Also, consider making the establishment wheelchair accessible or at least putting a sign up to let patrons know to ask about accessibility.
We arrived early so as not to miss the film at the DFT at 7pmThe fish n chips Walleye was fabulous, would order again, duck fat fries sounded usual to me but they were also very good and crispy. The happy hour single burger was just the right size and very tasty also with duck fat fries. Had a few Paper Planes that were very boozy although my husband had PBR on happy hour special $2 from 3-7 …any day! Can’t beat that! Will come again. Maybe for Pub Quiz Weds nights.
I visited Common Pub on 8/9/2023 and had a wonderful time. My waitress, Miranda, was exceptional. I ate alone and received the type of attention normally reserved for a 10 man party.Every drink came within 5 minutes and I was checked on multiple times throughout my meal. When you're out for a quick afternoon escape from your day job, this type of service is invaluable.I had the duck fat fried chicken, and it came with potato salad, coleslaw, and an assortment of pickled vegetables. The chicken was very good and reasonable in price. There was no greasy, flat aftertaste that you sometimes get with low quality fried chicken. The breading was crispy and, thank god, there wasn't too much of it (cough! Beans and Cornbread cough! Was it as good as let's say a Gus's Fried Chicken? No, but Gus's isn't a bar and it isn't as affordable either. The potato salad was actually very unique and tasted as though there might've been some curry or turmeric in the recipe. I really liked it, and was glad it wasn't overly sweet or mushy like some potato salad in the area. The coleslaw was coleslaw. I really liked the pickled vegetables. The atmosphere here is extremely laid back. It's not a hipster overload like say, Bronx Bar. If you came here in the afternoon, you could easily get some work done and enjoy yourself due to the service and clientele.Thank you for the wonderful lunch Miranda and I'll be back!
